    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

Great that your son can learn & start saving EARLY! Surprised about 1500 working so well & easy. I think I tried 800 wet & had to go to 600(???) wet. Will try 1500 dry. Also, I just rec'd LC foamed wool pads & McKee's AIO HL Restorer. I have a few cars (almost) lined up, as test subjects to...

    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

@pdqgp - Thx for your feedback. Sounds like you really did a grassroots effort to grow the biz! It's pretty cool that you have a "built-in" assistant! My apprehension is about 1500 being aggressive enough TY again, - Allan

    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

I KNOW! Waaaay too many steps - that 1 of the big reasons for my posting. I have used wet - not dry or damp sanding. That probably had too much lube for the sanding process - reducing cutting ability. Will def use LESS water! TY again!

    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

Setec - Thanks for the compliments. I was really happy (& customer / friend) with the job as well! For these really nasty ones (silver Rav 4), I probably used 400, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000(???) - wet, by hand - either with / w/o body sanding block. Then wet sanded w/ GG 3" & Mirka thru the rest of...

    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

Thanks for the compliment, @ dcjredline! I saw several great reviews of McKee's polish, but some of the lights i did were pretty BAD! Like completely frosted. Not sure if it would do those. Also wanted some feedback on the Lake Country Foamed Wool 3.5 inch Buffing/Polishing Pad and how those...

    Headlight restorations & feedback, please

I did a few headlamp restorations & wanted some thoughts of feedback from some well experienced headlight restoration folks. Here are 2 sets I recently did. Wet sand (400 up to 2000 sheets then to Mirka set) followed by (GG 3") with LC blue foam & Meg's UC followed by LC orange & Meg's UP...

ONR & Uber Rinseless Wash longevity

Thanks for bringing the thread back. I don't have volume (personal / enthusiast kind of a guy, a few friends cars at most). Here in central FL, it gets ridiculously hot lately. I was meaning to get a Gamma seal for storage. I have the Big Red Sponge - it was recc to me to NOT let it sit in...

ONR & Uber Rinseless Wash longevity

Thanks for the detailed reply. (no pun intended) Would be using a GG in single bucket with Big Red Sponge. Several MF plush drying towels. (wheels / tires done separately) Not PURELY economic, but was under the impression that 1 batch can do several car washes if car isn't too dirty (esp if...

ONR & Uber Rinseless Wash longevity

Thanks for your replies. With the usual batch of 2-3 gallons (with distilled water), how many "maintenance car washes" can be reasonably done?

ONR & Uber Rinseless Wash longevity

A LOT of reading, my first thread post (be easy on me plz!) I am about to delve into the world of Rinseless Washes! (Totally new & scary world for me!) I am interested in feedback on how many cars can be washed with ONR or Uber Rinseless. I know that Yvan from OPT says that his shop will wash...

Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II aint cutting it for me.

Curious, does the Dove have any fillers or just a cleaner? Will it darken any lighter areas? I have a middle-aged model that's in pretty good shape, just wearing thin on the top & was originally brown. Single stage color, NOT repainted or bodywork but definitely has some light areas too. LOL!

How do you get customers to keep their detailing appointments...

FWIW, you can invoice (e-mail) the customer with Square. When they pay the invoice, it's at the usual 2.75% rate. Though I am not sure how one can incorporate that in a smooth way or on website. There ARE shopping cart plug-ins that could be used - to pay a deposit. Also, my niece, an...

Filthy Former Human Trafficking Vehicle Restoration - Unreal!

Car looks AWESOME! I'd hate to see what would have grown on a petrie dish from that car! Lol Just for the heck of it, KBB shows sale to private party is $938-$1224 (fair to very good condition) Probably best benefit was ability to do an extreme makeover. Glad you had an open tab on this recon...

Tesla Service Detailer in desperate need of help with this paint!

To follow up on what GSKR said (though NOT an immediate solution) see how willing they are to change (unless corporate dictated.). Then, buy (or borrow) a small bottle of product(s) that may do the trick & see if they are willing to convert. iF they give you the latitude, you may be able to...
