Tips and advice for an event.

Make a looping slide show showing the "before & afters." Rent or bring a 50" or larger TV. Add cool music???? Definately have a giveaway (like was said - COLLECT e-mail addresses for newsletters, specials, etc.). People like to win stuff. Consider doing some live demos (either on a test...

    Love bug prep

Avoid the 417 going over Lake Jessup! LOL Seriously, that's the WORST! Clean them off ASAP, don't let them bake on (yes, tough in the FL heat) If you leave the car out overnight, wash it 1st thing in the morning - the dew will partially loosen them for you. We have Love Bug season 2x or so /...

    Practice hood & headlight sample

THANKS, guys for all of your ideas. I was thinking of using a black hood (Honda??), but didn't think of 2 - hard & soft paint. Great thought. I can store 1 hood, not too sure if I can store (hide!) a 2nd one! LOL Picking a hood that's sun-beaten at a boneyard is a great idea. Of course...

    Durability of the Wax

I do pretty similar - Meg's Ult Wax (the newer version of NXT) & D156 / UQW after the wash. As Mike P points out, gentle wash. I foam gun it to get it loosened, as well. LOTS of soapy water on a MF mitt, 2 bucket wash, etc. My car is overdue for a wax but you couldn't tell - it's SO slick...

    Practice hood & headlight sample

Being newer to machine polishing, I wanted to refine my technique before using my DA polisher. By coincidence, a friend of mine works at a body shop and I was going to try to pick up a hood that they would only throw out anyway. If you had a wish list, what color, manufacturer, etc. hood would...

Up Close & Personal: FLEX Swirl Finder Light

FWIW, to be a little bit "paint safe," what about plastic dipping the strike bezel? I am sure plenty of AGO members have PD'd a few things! ;) Just a thought!

Mobile Tech Expo Class Schedule for 2016

Only a few days away! @Mike - Introducing myself wouldn't really help associate my name with my non-existent avatar! Let's just say that we (well, sister) met you last year - with the couple that traveled all the way from Germany to see you & Detailfest! See ya'll here in O-town in 2 days!

    Brand new Microfiber

Remove tags. Vinegar soak any tricky colors (black, blue, red, etc.) in their color respective group. Wash in hot water setting (opens up the fibers) with dedicated microfiber detergent (some people like some simple & plain detergent). Dry on LOWEST heat setting (or perm press, lowest heat...

    Detailing Menu

I would guess most clients won't know 1 brand from the next. Recc to remove mfg & product name. I would think few people have any brand recognition, plus, so many new products get released annually. My personal opinion - as long as my car looks spectacular & long lasting, I really don't care...

unique ways of getting new customers

Though I am a newb to the detail world, I have been small business for a number of years. It's easy to discount services, but difficult to come back up in price. I caution anyone that drops price. Maybe consider a limited time mid-winter special. "If you order pkg X, you receive a...

The LINE ---> How to avoid the line!

I stumbled upon this thread. Great stuff! As a newb, I wondered about "that line." Makes plenty of great sense. (commercial break of NYE celebration!) Thanks, Mike!

Looking at taking on a few cars (besides our 2 cars). A good way to make use of my "Auto-OCD" and all these excess bargains I ended up buying, thanks to Nick & his crazy specials! Here's to a cleaner & greener 2016!
