Is this clear cost burn through?

Completely agree, if it’s not there consistently I’d probably rule out burn through. You have lots of paint proven when measured. Might just be some anomaly due to reflections. Strange things happen at the factory and delivery of vehicles so it’s always possible there’s a defect of some sort...

Is this clear cost burn through?

Gotcha. At this point I’d be more inclined to say it’s not burn through. If possible can you get paint depth readings along this mark and then paint along this panel? Juuuuust to be sure it’s not extremely thinned clear. Here’s to it being nothing major and not needing a repaint

Is this clear cost burn through?

Man that’s just so strange, good to see you’ve got some thick paint though! Being you bought it new, possibly a defect from the factory? Only other thing, big shot in the dark here, possibly a light reflection off the chrome window trim shining onto the paint? At this point I’m all out of...

Played around a bit with my new to me Flex PE8, gifted to me by Mike Phillips. Can’t wait to use it more and get more proficient with the rotary, what a nice tool to use!

Is this clear cost burn through?

Have you owned this car since new? Is it used? I only ask because the rear corners have the thickest paint may be a concern if it’s a repaint. Just making a guess here. What polish(es) and pad(s) combo are/have you using? Like PaulMys mention, what LSP are you using, wax, sealant, coating...

LIVE Detailing Class - the GET A NEW CUSTOMER KIT & Polishers for Newbies

Really informative and great thread topic, I remember reading it when I was first getting started on detailing for money as a side gig. It really opened my eyes on such a simple way to explain things to a customer and tangibly show them exactly what you’re saying. After the quick rundown, thin...

Is this clear cost burn through?

Looks like the picture is now working in both of your posts, maybe it was my browser not loading it? Really hard to tell what that might be, doesn’t look like burn through and no paint transfer on you pads should support that. Give the tape tip a shot and see how that goes. It really is an...

Is this clear cost burn through?

Hey, just a heads up, your picture isn’t showing. If it’s along the edges of the rear door and quarter panel, it’s possible to burn through the clear easier as it’ll be thinner at the edges.

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

Ahh gotcha, in that case it’ll generally be a finishing polish(Megs 205 or Ultimate Polish), polishing pad or finishing pad, panel prep/wipe down and then coating. Hope that answers your question! Never tried Polish Angel products myself but I remember a few years ago there was a thread on here...

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

Hey, I’m not anywhere near as knowledgeable as Mike on this subject but I’ll try and help you. Concerning the water spots, I’d say more than likely they will wash right off. It being rain water you’ll get spots but nothing that should etch. Idk off the top of my head if Gyeon has a product, but...

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

Hey Noorth, I know my polishing schedule seems a tick in the “too often” side, but I lived in Chicago, Illinois at the time. I recently move to Florida, so I’m hoping to be able to adjust that closer to 12 months. Problem was winter and all the junk on the roads, I swear the roads were dirty at...

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

This is another reason I’ve stuck with them. My daily drivers are out in the elements basically 24/7, they need to be polished every 6-12 month to deep clean the paint and keep the appearance in tip top shape. A 2-5 year coating doesn’t interest me as much for that reason alone. Doesn’t hurt...

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

Yeah, I’ve actually yet to use any of the longer term semi permanent coatings, sticking mainly to the “lites” Cancoat, Mckees V1 and V2 Coating, Adams Ceramic and Turtle Wax HSSC. I like that they apply easily, wipe off with minimal effort and offer outstanding performance. Interested to see...

2020 Ceramic Coating 1 Year Test

Thanks for the update!! Good to see the big names hanging in there, some of the more “boutique” options leave more to be desired. Really good to see the performance of CQ lite and Cancoat are meeting/exceeding claims. Is this a loss for the graphene crowd?
