    Another Flex Review

    I've read where Edge is working on an adapter for the Flex to easily change between different sized pads without needing a corresponding backing plate. Question is why would anyone use backing plates when two sided pads appear so much easier (that includes 7424 or UDM) to change out with an...

    New products!! (Buffers)

    Sooooo, if one was looking to buy his first polisher (not a Flex) would you folks suggest the G110, 7424 or UDM? I do like the adjustable handle on top vs the other two. My novice assumption is the UDM and G110 have a touch more power than the 7424... So many choices... Thanks.

    If you Could, Would you?

    I applaud your interest...However transferring a hobby to full-time job is quite a leap. I have two nice saltwater aquariums that friends always marvel at. I like to tinker and have thought of doing other tanks--its like detailing in that its hard not to critique flaws when walking past a poorly...

    Newbie PC questions

    Thanks fellas. Yeah I meant the Porter Cable...and I will get a smaller backing plate as well. Looking forward to joining the club.

    Newbie PC questions

    I will be taking the PC plunge. I only work on my own car and the paint is in great shape but want to cut my polishing teeth (so to speak). So, I'm not interested yet in the UDM or Flex. Should I get the 7424 or another brand (Makita etc) and buy individual pads or maybe get one of the AG kits...

    Sealant test over a Glaze base

    Nice test...thanks for conducting it. Personally, I've found putting the Danase Wet Glaze over either Liquid Souveran or Clearkote Carauba Wax to look much better IMHO. Seems the reflection was much sharper but still had some warm appearance.

    Claying the windows, Do they need protection after?

    I will clay the windshield when just cleaning doesn't get it done. First I clay then use DG 501 for a light polish. Finally, its either DG 521 or AW to leave a nice smooth finish--plus it works better than Rain-X for rain to literally fly off without needing wipers while driving.

    What do you look for in a wax (or LSP)?

    I don't mind waxing so ease of applying and removing is key. Durability not so much since I like to wax fairly often. Appearance-wise its a wet look but not overly shiny. Reflections are a bi-product of wet appearance. When my car looks its best, the paint has the appearance of a calm, glassy...

    WG Tire Dressing

    +1 re: killers quote. since its absorbed into the rubber, a dry clean tire works best.

    WG Tire Dressing

    Have been looking at the Surf City offering...read its good stuff but more of a matte look

    WG Tire Dressing

    I like WG. Nice durability and dirt doesn't stick to it. Best advice for slinging (as always) is apply thinly, let cure for about an hour then wipe excess. Very little sling if at all.

    using meg's 7

    Personally can't stand #7. The final result doesn't equate to the beating of applying and removing. Yes it smells horrible like a toxic waste dump. No durability, hardly any slickness and didn't improve the appearance at all... Not sure if I can post this but used the Danase Wet Glaze. 100%...

    Why Detailing Makes You Smarter

    Have no fear my friend. The speedometer still hits 100+ and off-ramps at 70. Guess I just pick my spots is all.

    Why Detailing Makes You Smarter

    Thought of this while driving today...me thinks I need a life. Why detailing makes you smarter Worried about flying rocks=less tailgating especially behind trucks Hate excessive brake dust=anticipating stops by cruising up instead of slamming brakes Rinseless washing=saving water Sparkling...

    Onr

    Will say the ONR or 4-1 rinseless wash works much better if you dry each panel before moving on. ONR especially will dry somewhat crusty if not removed fairly quickly. Funny, I bought a gallon of DG 901 car shampoo (good stuff btw) but find myself doing a rinseless wash almost exclusively...

    Duragloss 522/951 mix

    I'm assuming the mix of DG 522 and AW (20 or 30% dilution) is okay to use as a QD+ and won't mute the metallic paint as some have said by using too much AW by itself...

    using glaze, yes or no?

    I've used Megs #5 and #7 on a repainted A6 hood until I can wax it. Not impressed at all. Might be worthy on single stage paint, but on a good clear coat doesn't add anything whether its gloss or slickness. Even when applying a thin coat and wiping immediately its a ##### to remove. Smells funny...
