I would do 601 and 105 by hand and if you want to do your LSP with a pad, I would use a blue one.

I use a dilution of Meguiar's Super Degreaser. The dirtier the engine, the less dilution I use.

I brush the pad when needed, but that is generally after each panel. I switch pads about each 1/3 of the car to a new one. It pays to have multiple pads of each size and color.
