Graphic Design help for an amateur?

I'm straying from using templates, and want to prepare for long term as I know for now that all flashy graphic design stuff isn't needed starting up as some of you said. Just want to be able to do it the professional way on anything I do. Using examples on detailing, and all other things I...

Graphic Design help for an amateur?

Hey guys wondering what programs you use to do graphic design for things like your business cards, websites, flyers, brochures, etc? Yeah I know I could pay someone, but with the need to do changes often, multiple types of things needing designed, and so on it's just not feasible to be able to...

    55 Ferraris , 12 Porsches , 2 Bentleys + .. in 8 months!

Do you use anything like the Tornador for interior or just cleaning chemicals with microfibers doing traditional wiping down? Do you store all detailing supplies/extras in each Van or keep anything stored at home (or well now the shop..)?

    55 Ferraris , 12 Porsches , 2 Bentleys + .. in 8 months!

As usual your growth and work is impressive! Congrats on the building. I noticed way earlier one of your main equipment uses is the 1600 Extractor for interior, whats your take on steam systems for cleaning interior/exterior? Unless I missed it with your main equipment too, but do you use a...

    Washing/Maintaining LARGE Trucks/Vehicles

That is a possibly avenue, but I'm curious how those without pressure washers and in very strict water areas do this.

How do you compete with gimmicky "detailing"

Wonder how you all deal with gimmicky so called "detailing". Headlight Restorations: I've heard many people point to/ask why so expensive for a full multiple step sanding, compounding, polishing, and Opti-Lens when they point to cheap commercial products that can restore a headlight in one wipe...

    Washing/Maintaining LARGE Trucks/Vehicles

I get why you wouldn't want to "wash" that dirty of a vehicle with rinseless, but how are people doing it in heavily water restricted areas? CThere has to be something else you can do than rely on a local car wash and/or a pressure washer if once again are limited on water.

    Washing/Maintaining LARGE Trucks/Vehicles

How do detailers who are rinseless take care of muddy trucks? How do you remove the large amounts of mud effectively? Kind of like a mechanic who own vehicle is broken and need of servicing, I sadly have neglected this truck I got. Previous owner did exactly what i don't want to do which...

    Washing/Maintaining LARGE Trucks/Vehicles

I've always owned and also worked on smaller vehicles with the biggest being your regular size SUV. Recently acquired a large lifted Ford F-250 diesel for towing/hauling/etc. I get it dirty fast and almost daily that even with my detailing mindset I'm tempted to run through car washes to...

    Health Insurance?

For those of you who do this full scale what do you do about health insurance? Especially with the new law requirements. If it's a major company, and not local to you, please post which company you go with and what rate (and how many people that you have covered like if you're married. Thanks!

    $5 secrets

If someone else designs your logos/etc. don't they still technically "own" the image?

Which Wash Mitt or Wash Pad are you using?

I use microfibers, that I have dedicated for washing only, because I do the Gary Dean method. Debating if I want to go to an actual wash mitt if I ever go full production as even one wash I go through a heck of a lot of microfibers and wondering if I'm really going to see a difference between...

Glass coatings and ice on windshields

How long have you had it on? I was thinking of going with Opti-Glass myself. Maybe even doing a 50/50 comparison to see how it holds up and visibly...hmm

New detail menu; looking for feedback

Thanks for sharing that! I thought the idea of having a brochure was pointless with having an online site and possibly social media, but then I had several people who never get online if I had flyers/brochures/etc. so it seems like still a good idea to approach that market. Looks good.

Pressure washer Mobile Tank set up (55 gallon drum)

Since you have multiple plastic 55 gallon barrels at your disposal do you think you could "piggy back" several of them together with hoses/pvc line & fittings? Nice setup. One way to find out how fast it will run out..just do it! lol

    New Business Card

That's my problem too of not having fancy photo editing software. Post up if you find a nice free one or heck maybe even a relatively fair priced dedicated program as I'm sure it'll get used in the future still for making things like flyers, new business card changes, etc.

Do any of you flip cars?

Just check with your state from the rules to do it the right way. I believe in Illinois if you sell more than 5 you need a dealers license which cost around $1,000 last time I checked and you can then get dealer plates/etc. I'd rather just stick at the less than 5 a year limit till I got setup...

What do mobile detailers do in the winter?

I tried to get people to get polishing/etc. work done before winter, but didn't work so well they want to wait till after. Not sure if I want to bear in this weather with doing washes/etc. Can you even do things like headlight restorations when it starts to dip below 32F or is it too...

    Steam cleaner and or extractors

Can you guys give more recommendations on actual brand names of steam cleaners and extractors please? Still torn on what would be best if you had to pick only one. Seems like a steamer would be more versatile as you could use for really nasty areas like an engine bay right?

    Fresh paint how to's/dont's ?????'s

x2 on what others said do not coat with a sealant/wax/etc. so soon as the solvents are still escaping even after being baked. Educate your customer, have them verify with the body shop, so that they do not run off to someone else and will return to you when a safe amount of time (I've dealt...
