How to be more efficient and not repeat steps? Also when to tape/untape?

I guess I'm getting ahead of myself as I've been getting more hands on experience since this post and feeling more comfortable, learning what to do, and not to do, so yeah. Any tips of the whole process is still appreciated.

How to be more efficient and not repeat steps? Also when to tape/untape?

Yeah I'm going to college for Automotive Collision Repair so it is a different game. I'm probably going to aim for just a regular Production Detailing with using AIO's. Just trying to look forward to the higher up stuff, and in general the process. Yes more experience is needed before I...

How to be more efficient and not repeat steps? Also when to tape/untape?

I just started learning how to detailing (buffing/color sanding/etc.) at school so I'm sure it'll be covered, but I'm wanting to see others perspectives and learn now as I'm really trying to start a detailing business hopefully soon once I get more practice on some more cars. I know all cars...

Took the leap. Made my first order.

Well I thought about having an actual maintenance package for those who return to me in a less than 4 week period, but I"m talking about the first time you see them. I read that claybarring is NECESSARY to ensure good application of an AIO or if I'm just going for the regular person production...

No access to a garage and/or cover. How can I start?

I didn't see the sale (at least online?) for the EZ Ups at that store. Do the canopie EZ Ups have sidewalls available or is that only with their tents? I'm amazed at how much these cost everywhere.

Took the leap. Made my first order.

Developing my different level packages. One thing I'm confused about from reading a few articles on here, and looking at some detailers websites is claybar use. I read how you should use a claybar no matter regardless if you're doing a production detail with an AIO or multi-step, but then I've...

A few tips on starting a part-time detailing business

Thank you Mike for taking the time to make that long response I really appreciate it. I just placed my first big order here on AG, and sadly forgot to include your and Renny's book combo, but it is on my to buy list for my next order. That helped give me more insight for starting off, and I...

Took the leap. Made my first order.

Oh I wouldn't for sure do it for $35 I realize that in the products thats why I made the comment of that person could go elsewhere, but I was saying about the $100 for that basic package I listed. Renny Doyle's & Mike Phillips books are on my list of things to order once I get some more $ for...

Took the leap. Made my first order.

Made my first, and a big one at that of a LOT, of stuff here on Autogeek last night and taking the steps towards opening my own business. Well I still think I have a bit to go before I'm official as far as insurance, business registered, etc legal stuff as I still need to work out the kinks...

No access to a garage and/or cover. How can I start?

Valid points I guess the weight in sandbags is nothing compared to the rest. Also yeah definitely going to have to rely on mobile locations with water/electricity since I'm just starting out no fancy mobile vehicle setup yet.

Thanks again for the help Cosmin I appreciated it. Do you ask your customers to sign a waiver or something for using photographs of their cars for your business?

A few tips on starting a part-time detailing business

Mike how do you "word" to the potential customers the difference between production detailing and show car detailing? I understand the reasoning as noted in your first post to match to the customers demands so you're not doing a full paint correction on some daily driver that is going to go...

No access to a garage and/or cover. How can I start?

Do you do mobile detailing? Seems like a lot of weight to carry with you if you go to someones house, but at your own seems feasible.

No access to a garage and/or cover. How can I start?

I thought about the EZ-Ups, but all I can picture in my mind is the wind or something smashing it into the car. Have any of you had incidents with the EZ-Ups? And/or what do you do to prevent one?

No access to a garage and/or cover. How can I start?

Looking to start a detailing business, but my biggest hurdle is not having a garage and/or a covered area out of the sun to do detailing. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this predicament so what do you guys do?

    55 Ferraris , 12 Porsches , 2 Bentleys + .. in 8 months!

Very inspirational thread! Cosmin would it be impolite to ask what products you use exactly? Something like: Interior - Carpet - Panel general cleaning - Panel proctection - Windows - Air Freshener - Etc. Exterior - Car Wash (shampoo) - All In One Cleaner/Wax (or do you not do this...

    New here and eventually detailing

I know that, but eventually I would love to own a shop where I can paint peoples cars, and (since I plan on starting soon) also professional detailing services since most body shops butcher that part on jobs they repair.

    New here and eventually detailing

Just wanted to say hi. I was brought here from another member, gofast908z, after reading a LOT of recommendations/info he posted on another forum I frequent. I'm actually going to college for Automotive Collision Repair, and in the past few weeks have seriously started researching the...
