Question about taping off a vehicle

I bet forcing the tape and using some pressure behind it to put it on would leave tons of marring as well. The solvents in the adhesive could deteriorate the LSP, but some things make taping almost impossible. We applied a few coats of Blackfire to a car, then tried to tape over it. The tape...

    Fogging after using aquapel ?

Could be left over product from the interior wipe, or just stuff not wiped off the glass completely. I doubt it is the aquapel as it would leave more of a streak than a fog. Further, the day looks like it is very humid. Does it go away with the defroster?

    Door Jambs

Door jambs are one of my specialties ;) And there are many ways to go at them. I learned from Kevin Brown to use Body Solvent for filthy jambs. This stuff cuts through grease and has a long dwell time. It gets hard to remove, though. I found FK1 #1119 does as good of a job, or better, and rinses...

Looking for reputable detailer in the Detroit, Mi area

Thanks for the referrals, guys!!! :dblthumb2: S2K, we do work on daily drivers. If you check out our site you will see minivans, camrys, jeeps, etc. The idea is, like you mention yourself, not to "hack" up the vehicle. I know many places that will take your money, but few that will not end up...

Removing swirls from a vinyl Wrap

Caution: if the wrap is matte do not polish. If it is not matte, M205 on a black pad on speed 4 or 5 is good enough. Do not expect miracles, at the most you will see an improvement in clarity and transparency, but swirls, etching, etc will remain. The wrap is intended, aside from aesthetic, to...

Old School + New Tech: AutoLavish '68 Porsche 911 Ossi Blue

Thanks, guys! For forum rules and etiquette I will not mention prices or try to directly solicit even via PM (I know this can be a fine line I walk), but if you search for our website you will see our rates. I post the products used since AGO carries most of them and I'm sure members appreciate...

    Detailed Pacifica by IID

Looks really good!! The Pacifica is the best handling of "minivans" and was one of Chrysler best cars in terms or braking distance. It also has Chrysler most "breaking" tranny :( In the snow the AWD will hang the tail out very predictably and very easily, making turning in snow a breeze and...

    Removing Winter Salt From Carpet

Caution, water will make salt a corrosive solution. Dry salt will not do much harm, but salty water will penetrate and remain in and under the carpet. Vinegar will help neutralize the salt, but will also impart its smell for awhile. Stiff brush as much as you can, vacuuming while brushing. Once...

Old School + New Tech: AutoLavish '68 Porsche 911 Ossi Blue

I hear you, man! April was the crappiest April ever. We had to reschedule a client 3 times, and ended up giving him a very deep discount just to keep him as a client (was his first time with us, and we knew we would have him once we could show our work on his ride). Plus we had snow, hail, and...

99 Harley Road King - Police Edition

Jason, it looks great! I really like the color. Most Harleys are the stereotypical black, or full out crazy candy and skulls. This is a nice change, and now actually looks proper and green ;) Most people would never imagine a bike could take as long or longer than a car to do. But the truth is...

    2003 VW Jetta GLI

I think the car looks sick with those wheels!! Dumped hard, stretched, pure euro-trash bad-a$$-ness, and very popular with the VW crowd. Is it air suspension or just dumped on coilovers? Regardless it looks dope IMO! Not that I would run such a stretch, especially not here in Michigan. I have a...

Epic Review - 2006 Subaru Spring Detail

Bill, great writeup!! Nice jersey, looks like you are quite fit and can do long rides ;) This is good for long details as well!! The paint looks fantastic! But what I have learned over time is when you think it doesn't make a difference to finish down further, it is worth the time to do so. I...

Finally put some new wheels on

I like it just as it sits! Lifted is cool and all, but if the tires clear and you don't really need the clearance... For big tires I like to use a matte tire shine. Pepboys has the Black Magic brand "Matte" tire shine. Too much shine makes the un-shiny tread stick out too much IMO. Really nice...

Black Porsche , Red Porsche , correction

Modern Porsche paint is very soft, M205 works quite well for correction, especially with an aggressive pad. Looking good!

1 step/Klasse/Sig II. LOTS of pics!

Gary, the car looks great. Good job at documenting the whole process!! M205 works fantastic on Honda paint for a one-stepper. And the LSP combo is fantastic!

Old School + New Tech: AutoLavish '68 Porsche 911 Ossi Blue

:dblthumb2: Thank you, gentlemen! The temps were cold and it was raining the whole week, and all I could think about was being in the Caribbean looking at this ocean-colored paint! Then I got called to, possibly, fly down to PR again for a few cars. Trying to see if I can make it happen as I...
