    So Many Test Spots

Finding the right combo can be a lil frustrating especially with pads/products you don't have experience with, what I have seen with VW paint is that it tends to be on the hard end of the spectrum......without seeing the defects or your technique first hand its hard to tell why you haven't had...

    Optimum hyper system

First off I don't use any Optimum pads so not sure how that would affect my results, also I tested on a black C6 hood with bad defects but here's what I noticed . Hyper Compound is good, I paired it with a MF cutting pad on Rupes 21 and in my experience it didn't cut quite as well as say Griots...

Anyone who does pro detail on weekends while having a regular 5 day 37.5 hour a week job?

I work in IT (Healthcare), been in the field for 16yrs, prior to that 8+yrs USN, will be 45yrs young in a few months....It can be done. Not all IT gigs are late nights or maintenance window hours I work 8-430 Mon-Fri and have to be a Tier 2 support for after hours on call for a week every 5...

Looking for advice on Black Sapphire Metallic BMW

Fellow BMW owner here (E90 335i) and unfortunately you will not be able to put much of a dent into that defect removal by hand, the clear on BMW Metallic finishes is definitely on the hard end of the spectrum. Even if it were a softer BMW color like say Jet Black you could make some progress but...

    Opti-Coat Pro installer cerfification

As I understand it Optimum recommends a install price of $1200 for Pro+, those kinds of profit margins def take the sting out of the monthly fees

What ceramic coatings do you recommend? First time trying it?

+1 CSL is super easy, CSL & Gloss Coat win the ease of use awards for me.....but I'd give the nod to CSL for longevity/durability

Looking for Input on Polish Selection

Hyper Polish gets my vote.....goes on the pad easier, no guess work in terms of how much to use (saves product), virtually no dust....but if you have Ultimate Compound/Polish I wouldn't necessarily buy more product unless it just doesn't work for you...both work well and are very forgiving. If I...

How to remove swirls from car with cermic coat?

Tom.... that's what I meant to suggest was Essence Plus......not Essence, corrected my post.

How to remove swirls from car with cermic coat?

Car Pro Essence Plus sounds like a good candidate for this......it has to be said though, Essence won't necessarily remove the swirls so much as it's going to hide/fill them and not affect the layer of coating now that's IF the defects are in the coating and not the clear coat

How to remind customers to pay for a detail.

Its unfortunate the customer put you in that situation however, never short yourself and don't be afraid to request what you are due. I would send a friendly text reminding the customer of the promised payment that you have not received. I would also mention that you have their address and if...

    Glass cleaners

For interior glass I like quality low nap towels but for initial wipe I use a towel dampened with Isopropyl alcohol/distilled water mix (especially if glass is really grimy), followed by dry towel, then another two towel cleaning with either D120 or ONR @ 256:1

Can't get rid of all the scratches

Agree with others, speaking from experience (my dailly is a Sparkling Graphite Metallic E90 335i), metallic BMW paints are pretty hard. I'd try to find a more aggressive product locally as others have mentioned, Megs UC, M105, or even 3M compound are available at local automotive retailers. Megs...

    Headlight Coatings

If OEM UV clear coat protection is still holding strong then the Opti-Lens IMHO is a waste..If I'm not mistaken its designed to bond to lenses that have been heavily polished/sanded. I would go with a product designed to bond to the existing surface....like Gloss-Coat or DLux.....or you could...

    Headlight Coatings

Shouldn't be an issue at all for the OCW...I would think the OCW should/would help due to the UV inhibitors, restoring usually diminishes if not completely removes the factory UV protection and UV exposure is what's going yellow them again, any product that can slow that process down would be...

    Chromtec Wheels

Our family has a 2014 Highlander Limited with the Chromtec wheels, puchased new and I've used wheel woolies with soap and water from day one with no issue ...I don't believe they are plastic but they are bonded to the wheel, I coated mine with Optimum Gloss Coat and its held up well and made...

Do you wash your drying towels?

Yessir .....use them once and they go in the "dirty" pile, I have a clean pile of about 10 or so drying towels (use 1 per wash/dry session typically), when the dirty pile gets too high so to speak I wash them.......
