Argument with family for detailing cars?

Can't say they are necessarily arguments but I get "You're going to wash the paint off that car" or "Cars are meant to be used and dirty". I just chuckle and move on.

    Should I give up?

I would be surprised. One way to check is inspect where you start your drying at in comparison to where you finish. If the scratching gets progressively worse toward the end of where you dried then you are picking up contaminates. If it is consistent then perhaps it is the towel. I like...

    Coatings - Thickness & Protection?

    Should I give up?

And now that I am sitting here thinking/reading about how much time, mitts and etc I go through, I may as well go with a rinse-less wash. Bubble bursted!

    Should I give up?

Dark GM Paint is a bugger. I used to have similar issues with the Dark Blue GM paint. Below is what I changed, listed in the order of what I feel helped the most. Not fool proof and I'm sure others may disagree. Just what has helped me. 1. Use 4-5 different mitts when washing and swap...

    Should I give up?

Hahaha..... I was about to ask the same question. Then remembered I have 3-4 "Chevy Truck" t-shirts that I got as freebies from various shows, yet I drive a Ford. I wonder how many people have seen me get in/out of my truck with those shirts on and scratched their heads LOL. Not thread...

    Coatings - Thickness & Protection?

Hi all - Still on the fence about applying a coating to my wife's daily driver. I am hoping some of you experienced coating Pro's can confirm/correct my understanding of coatings and provide your own thoughts and input. First to make sure we are talking about the same thing I am referring to...

what is the best finishing polish "hands down" in your opinion???

I've met a lot of people that like 3M. I may have to give it a try one day. Do you use with DA or Rotary?

Can I use any all in one in 20 degrees? 30 degrees?

Great topic. I can see the cold affecting dry/settle times on waxes and sealants. But when it comes to application by a machine, wouldn't the frictional heat on even the finest of DA's warm the product to 50 - 60 degrees? If I didn't work with products below 50-60 degrees I would lose 5-6...

Best video ever on how to machine buff a car from start to finish

Watched the video a couple of times. Content: I appreciate you starting with the order of operation and not leaving out the significant step of clay prior to correcting. Your coverage of test spotting with less aggressive compounds/pads will help save lots of clear coat from unnecessarily...

what is the best finishing polish "hands down" in your opinion???

If I had to choose just one "Hands Down" it would be M205. Equally great results with DA or Rotary. I am fortunate to still have a half bottle of M80 I use with a rotary for probably the quickest and most stunning results. Never seemed to work as impressively with a DA.

    Back to black

Nice work! I went through so many products for trim (not tires) trying to find the right balance of look, protection & longevity. Finally (thanks to the great advise from this forum). I applied Wolfgang exterior trim sealant or "WETS" and couldn't be happier. I just top with D156 every other...

    Quick detailer / Quick wax

Put another one down for D155 (Last touch) for quick detailer and D156 (synthetic x wax) for spray wax. An honorable mention for D115 as well. Sent from my iPhone using Autogeekonline mobile app

    What to buy?

Meguiars APC + PERL for interior I also use Meguiars APC for wheels and tires. I like Meguiars Hyper dressing or Ulltimate tire coating for tires. PERL can be used for tires as well, but not as economical as hyper dressing. Megs APC, Hyper dressing & PERL can be diluted to taste and are very...

    Gloves?

Yes sir. Traditional two bucket method. I completely get what you are referring to with the feedback. I only do this when it is pretty cold, and the goal is to get the road salt & grime off. One way to look at it is I get just as much feedback through those gloves as I do cold & numb hands.

    Gloves?

These are pretty close to what I use as well. I just layer a light fleece "liner" glove underneath them and have rarely had cold hands.

Have you ever "Oops, sprayed the wrong product!" Good? Bad? Disastrous?

I've done this more than I care to admit. I've spray waxed tires, hyper dressed paint, glass cleaned trim, degreased windows, and my favorite was tire shined the crap out of some carpet floor matts. Needless to say I now make sure products not in use are safely on the shelf and out of...

Gone from a Coating back to a Sealant?

Couldn't agree more :) Have you tried the Ultimate Black Tire Coating? You may be doing enough volume that it doesn't make sense, but it is still my go to for tires. I get a good 3-4 weeks out of it. First couple days it is a little shiny for my taste, but it wears beautifully.

Gone from a Coating back to a Sealant?

Easier to say what Meg's tire dressing I haven't tried LOL. NXT Tire Coating, Hot Shine, Natural Shine, Endurance Tire Gel, and probably the one I like the most Ultimate Black Tire Coating
