Year Three in Business - Excited! - B & B Detailing Nashville TN

Congrats, and thanks for the inspiration. I follow your posts on FB, and saw some good stuff with you bookings this week, great job!

Please check out my website, logo, menu etc. and let me know what you think?

I'd definitely add some photos with good color to the home page, too much text otherwise. People seem to like photos of cars and other vehicles. I'd also push your logo on top of the Nav, and have the whole thing scrolled under like you do now with the nav, so that your logo is visible all of...

Areas of the Country with Strong Market for Detailing

Our kids were born in Connecticut and we lived there for a while, Fairfield County. Some nice cars to be had, but uber expensive to live there. When I started my web business 15 years ago, we had to get out of there so we could make a go of it.

Areas of the Country with Strong Market for Detailing

My wife grew up in Torrance. Not sure i'd get her back there, but definitely worth thinking about. My buddy said that Nashville is a great place to be, and up and coming. I think that's where B&B is (forum member), and he's doing quite well it appears.

Areas of the Country with Strong Market for Detailing

Thanks! Yeah, I've heard about the summers, and have experienced it, but never doing detailing day in and day out, so I appreciate the warning. Thought about splitting the seasons a bit. We've got a ton of equity in our home here, so there are some advantages of relocating, especially to an...

Areas of the Country with Strong Market for Detailing

After 10 long Winters here in MT, we're seriously contemplating whether we want to stick around for another one, and are discussing moving. We don't really have any ties to any areas in particular. We have a vacation home/rental in Orlando, and I really like the weather in Florida. I'm not sure...

    Pictures: Detailing Boot Camp Class - May 4th & 5th, 2013

It's a 5 speed, but if you and your son come out, you can let him drive! We're coming back down here in the Fall, and maybe I'll bring it with me too! It shouldn't need any correction, but that would be a fun car to learn how to wash a roadster, no top, for your class!

Absolutely right. Just so I'm clear, I wasn't implying that they DID hard sale, like you said, not necessary. I just wanted to point out that it wasn't an issue in case others might have the same concern.

    Pictures: Detailing Boot Camp Class - May 4th & 5th, 2013

Mike is the real deal! A genuine car-guy that cares about people and is ready to share his years of experience and passion for the art of detailing and paint correction. The class was the best money I've spent in a long time. We not only learned a lot of paint correction techniques, but we were...

    New business name and logo.

I had a guy digitally print my t-shirts, and for small orders, it's WAY cheaper. They've been washed about 5 times each and look brand new. PM me if you want the info.

Greg, really sorry, I never received a notification that I had this message! I like snap, they are updating some new features. I've only had one appointment booked through it, but it also allows you to keep track of some client information as you add calendar entries. I just use the free...

    Scheduling Tip

Snap Appointments will let you do that, but another issue I've had is keeping everything synched. After reading Renny's book, I just have a plain day planner since I can't use my phone to talk and look at my calendar at the same time. It's a bit old school, but has been working well so far. I...

    New business name and logo.

Looks great. I would go with your slogan, actually, otherwise no one will know what you do, could be a heating place, glass place, or any number of businesses that have radiant and reflection type synonyms.

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

Good call Mark! Follow up question, do you think it's important to really play up the mobile side of the marketing? I think I'll look at improving my efficiency on my mobile rig and keep shopping for a trailer. Are you running a 6x12' trailer?

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

I have advertising plastered all over my Yukon XL, and it's a sweet rig. One thing to consider is ROI on a van. Let's say you're doing 2000 miles a month. The difference between 16mpg and 30mpg (which I'm not sure any vans will do) is about $185 a month (at today's prices.) Even if you buy used...

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

Good advice as always Ralph. I think maybe I just need to go back and look at my operation and see how I can improve it's efficiency, either through my cheap trailer I have now, or with a new trailer. My Yukon gets crappy gas mileage at 16mpg, which can cost some bucks, about $10 per trip to...

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

Yeah, the main stuff is the extractor, steamer, and shopvac. I usually keep my towels in the back of my Yukon, and then I have a detailer bag with my supplies. I keep water and my generator on my trailer, but I'm finding most customers (if I'm at their house) are fine with me grabbing water and...

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

Yes, but not in a neighborhood. We're in a rural area, on 6 acres, and I actually have a really cool shop, 1200sqft. My only concern, which has been all along is just that I'm a bit far out. That being said, a competitor of mine is also far out, just in a different direction.

Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

Thanks Jerry! That's sort of what I've been doing so far. The $64000 question is the one about whether location matters. If I'm doing a full detail, which is 4-6 hours, so far, they've had no issue at all with dropping off. My guy today said the mobile side was pretty important to him, but...

    Scheduling Tip

Snap Appointments is also really good. One of the most difficult things with this kind of scheduling that I've found is blocking out the right amount of time per appointment.
