Doing Both Fixed and Mobile - Feel Like I need to Pick

I'm trying to figure out if I should invest in a static fixed location in town, or invest in a better mobile setup. Interested in hearing how those that have been there done that feel. Details below (sorry it's long): I've been up and running for a few months, and if it weren't for poor...

    Any Gurus could enlighten me?

There's a conversion, it's watts = amps x volts. So, if your device pulls 10 amps at 220, it's 2200 watts. You need to know the startup and run amperage that each thing takes so you can see the combinations. Personally, I have a 3500/4000w $400 generator, and it's about as quiet as the Honda...

    Steam cleaner questions

I have a Mytee and love it. I don't use it much on carpet though. I ended up buying a mytee 8070, which cost a little more money. The steamer is awesome on seats, especially leather. I agree that a good budget option would be a little green machine (pro heat version). I was using a hoover...

    Mike Phillips's Detailing Boot Camp May 4th & 5th

For those that are attending, I'm driving down from Davenport (actually, all the way from Montana, but we have a house in Davenport too.) I'll have a car if anyone between Davenport and Stuart needs a ride down or wants to carpool. I'm leaving my Yukon with the fam and renting a little econo...

Seems like some sort of Phishing Scam

Good to get confirmation. Thanks for the info on how it works too, I was interested, and I figured it was something to do with cash-advance and paying the "tow guy" and all that. I'm usually not very gullible so I tread pretty lightly on this sort of thing, but anything can happen, I guess...

Seems like some sort of Phishing Scam

Yeah, I do, but I also get business from CL, so it sort of comes with the territory, I guess. Anyone know what the scam is? I just don't get it.

Seems like some sort of Phishing Scam

I'm not sure what they have to gain, maybe expecting to call me and ask for a CC number so they can "drop off" or something? If they show up to steal something, they might get a surprise. ;-> I asked her to text me, and she did, but not from a phone. So, I replied back and said I wanted a...

    Mobile Customer Management Tool Suggestion

Thanks for the clarification! I downloaded it, and will check it out, thanks. My other job is building websites and mobile apps, so I'm always thinking of apps to build if I can't find one that does what I want.

    Mobile Customer Management Tool Suggestion

Do you use the leads and potentials part of it? That's some of the stuff I didn't like. At least currently, I'm not doing cold calls and prospecting for clients, so that stuff that's pretty sales-cycle driven isn't of much use to me.

    Mobile Customer Management Tool Suggestion

I've been searching around a bit, and thought I would pass this along. There are a bunch of different CRM's (customer relationship management) out there. I have tried several, but all seem more sales driven than customer management. I decided to just keep it basic. I just want a way to keep...

    Generator questions

IMO, this will do great. Mine is quieter than my pressure washer, and about as loud as the vacuum. If you're mobile at someone's house, most people don't care if you grab power and water there anyway, or that's been my experience.

    Connecting with Local Competition

Thanks guys, on more reflection (no pun intended,) I'm not sure if there is much to gain at this point either. What I'm hoping to do with my business is establish myself as the only certified paint correction guy in town (thanks to Mike Phillips) so eventually I can be more selective with...

    Connecting with Local Competition

I had read Renny's book and he discussed meeting with other detailers in the area to make connections with them. There are really 3 other independent detailers in town. I'm the new guy, and so far, so good, it's going well. I'm considering reaching out to the other guys to just get the...

    Generator questions

I run a small 3500/4000 gennie. It's campground noise rated, so it's not too loud. It has handled my shopvac easily and steamer as well without a problem. I usually try to preheat the steamer when nothing else is running (while I'm washing.) I bought mine for $300 at my local auto parts store...

    Removing Bear Spray

Thanks all, we'll see if the guy calls me back, I know he had called around a bit. I told him the truth that I had never had to get it out, but felt like we could do a pretty good job with extraction and ozone, but definitely have to clean the whole of the inside. The nice thing about the ozone...

    Removing Bear Spray

That's sort of what I was thinking myself, and absolutely...full hazmat type suit with gloves and a mask for sure. I'll put the same stuff I use for painting cars on!

    Removing Bear Spray

I think you're thinking deer attractant. Bear spray is basically pepper spray in large quantity. Oleoresin Capsicum (hot red pepper) is the active ingredient. The good news, I think, is that the pee comparison should be right, meaning they are both organic, so the o3 should break it down.
