    Foot Wear

Okay, so this is going to sound goofy. Yesterday while loading up my mobile trailer, I managed to get the thing on my toe, almost cutting the stupid thing off. Needless to say, stitches. This isn't the first time I've hurt my toes, and it had me rethinking my foot wear approach. I'm almost...

    Getting the First Clients

Thanks for the input and the hijack :-). I can answer a couple. I just did the interior on a car that is really stained. My steamer worked wonders especially on the seats and headliner stains. Not a cheap tool though. I just got the XMT 360 polish and it does a really good job after clay...

    Getting the First Clients

Finally getting all of my ducks in a row here, t-shirts, biz cards, website, signage, etc. I'm ready to start detailing cars, but the weather is still pretty cold here, so it might be a bit. I'm curious what you guys used for your early strategies for getting clients. I've read it's not great...

You can do an unspoken guarantee. Renny Doyle talks about the follow up call to make sure everything is as the customer expected. You can address any issues at that time. But, you avoid having people take advantage of the guarantee.

Facebook users start "like"ing our pages

Maybe that's the problem with likes. I think we're still upside down a bit, at least for me and my page. I've got 12 non-friend likes on my page, and I liked about 50 pages, so maybe everyone that started has unsubscribed from the thread or just isn't liking pages anymore? Not trying to...

    Apps for Detailing Business?

That's a good idea. It would be cool if we could do something like "sponsored by" tips where we could get different tips from different detailers from this site and others. For each article, we could place a link to the website of the author too. What way, you could have different ideas and tips.

Maybe because mine is newer, I don't seem to be able to have a way to even like it from my business fan page, ONLY from my personal.

    Apps for Detailing Business?

Thanks! I don't think we'd do much payment integration, the data management side is a huge pain anyway. There are ways to be able to access a url (ie: your square payment console) from within the apps, so that's primarily what I was thinking, more of an ability to get to it easier than going...

    Apps for Detailing Business?

There might be a way for us to collaborate, let's see how this plays out!

    Apps for Detailing Business?

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for managing my customers, business, etc. I started looking around for detailing specific apps to use, but haven't been able to find anything yet. I've been a web developer for 15 years, and we have been doing apps for about 5 now. I'm highly considering...

I have gone through a liked a bunch. I thought a new consolidated list might help: IF YOU QUOTE before you reply, this list will continue to grow. You can quote, add new ones, then like. There are way more on here than I currently have liked on my page, so hopefully everyone is reciprocating...

    Canopy for shade

I just ordered the Ozark Trail one from Walmart after looking for a long time, it's a 10x10, which seems to work well for most, you either have to clamp a tarp to the "sun" side or move it. It's $90 shipped. There are nicer ones (search), but $500+. Some us a 10x15 or 10x20, but this seems a...

Getting Customer Cars to Home-Based Shop

Hi Greg, thanks! We built it in a summer, but I did most of the work by myself, including doing all of the electrical and drywall with just me and a drywall jack. We also poured the slab. I did the design specifically so it has a 12' ceiling on one side, and 10' on the other, so that I could...

Dual Setups (Mobile and In Shop) - How to organize?

Thanks man, I'm just getting started, and custom cabinetry is going to be a bit out of my price range at the moment.

Dual Setups (Mobile and In Shop) - How to organize?

That's funny, I actually have the 2 shelf version of that same cart in my shop right now, and I use it all of the time. I need to check around for different bag options. I like the idea of the bags, but you're right, $60 is a little steep for a duffle bag, I think. I ended up getting my boxes...

Dual Setups (Mobile and In Shop) - How to organize?

Is there an advantage to the bigger PRO version of the detailing bag over the smaller one? I like the idea of the 2 different bags, but if one big bag would work, that would be great. I got all organized yesterday. A bag would definitely make it easier, just wondering if I ought to do one big...

    Airport Service - Bad Idea?

Yeah, I had thought of that. I have a nice Yukon Denali XL that I could use to transport them, just not sure if you get into any type of taxi laws or whatever (doubt it out here.) I might test it out to see if I get any "Play" from it, but limit it to what I can handle. I like the idea in...

    Airport Service - Bad Idea?

Yes, I do have room to store a bunch of vehicles here at my shop, outdoors, and probably 3-5 indoors after detailing. I'd have to limit "deliveries" to my available inside space. As far as the weather goes, I had considered that for sure. We should know within some degree at about 7 days out...

    Airport Service - Bad Idea?

Yeah, I was planning to back charge them for whatever fees are associated with parking between the time they "pull the ticket" in the lot until I pick it up, which I was shooting for about a 4 hour window. I also considered doing a "shuttle" service if they wanted to drive out here and pick...
