    Brake pads?

Few comments/answers after skimming this thread: * Ceramic-based pads are good for low dusting but can squeal. * Be careful of a lot of high-performance pads as they need some heat in them to work. * If you don't mind a little more dust, EBC green are my favorite street pads as they...

No paint correction needed wax job

After wash/clay, I would use a mild non-abrasive paintwork cleanser such as P21S or Klasse AIO. These will effectively remove any wax, mild grime/staining, etc. Pinnacle and Wolfgang also make similar products, but I have not used them (yet). In your case, I would probably opt for KAIO since...

My review of some edgeless MF towels

Great post! I have a couple of the old indigo MF and love them. Was looking for their replacements and even had Sonus' in my shopping cart. Sad to see manufacturers cheapening out and ruining their products. I guess I'll be looking at the Mothers products now.

    wetsanding with ONR?

Interesting use of ONR. I've always just used plain water. Maybe ONR acts like a water wetter also. If I understand you correctly, if it's getting stuck, I'd use more water (from a spray bottle). It's similar to compounding (only extreme). There is a lot of removed material "gunk" that is...

Microfiber Detergent is it really necessary?

I have noticed a definite difference in absorbency using a dedicated MF detergent. The one I use is the Micro-Restore. I usually use this after a wash or soak with some kind of other cleaner to remove the bulk of the dirt/wax. I have also found there is a product called ProWash detergent...

Giveaway! 3M Fuel System Tune-Up Kit

Oooh! Pick me! Pick me! My car has "only" 51K miles on it, but it is a 2000 Porsche Boxster S. These flat-sixes are notorious for having gunked up intakes, nasty throttle bodies, etc., I suspect due to the difficulty in separating the oil vapor in the crankcase. I have a whole shelf of...

Sonus Der Wunder Microfiber Polishing Towels

Thank you for this post. I have been looking and looking for edgeless replacements for the previous indigo ones. Edgeless is not in the title, and the search is not doing it for me.

    My first clearcoat burn

That sucks! Sounds like you had some impossibly thin clear over a previously repaired section. Good luck and keep us posted. True, but what I've been doing with the PTG I just got is to compare the cleared paint with that in door jambs/under hood, etc. I don't think it's an exact science...

    Painting brake calipers

I think a lot depends on what results you want and the condition of your calipers. Paramount for any durability is prep. Personally, I would only do it "right" if you are going to do it at all. Otherwise, I think it looks half-baked poseurish, and now that you have painted calipers, it is one...

    m105 substitute plus pad

You might consider Meguiars Ultimate Compound, polishing compound, rubbing compound, meguiars rubbing compound, meguires, meguiars polish, auto compound polish The cut is similar but not as high as 105, but it is SMAT (non-diminishing) and is cheap, too. It has a VERY long working time. I...

    Quick question about ONR

I have not used ONR, but I use the DP equivalent and the Ultima WW as a conventional wash booster, and both (especially WW) make the wash soap dramatically slippery -- slipperier than snot. I am adding 1oz DP to 4 gal and 1/2 oz of the WW.

Pressure washing car but it is still not clean

Personally, I would be careful with a pressure washer and expecting a vehicle to be clean. It is easy to blast off any marginal paint or chips and get water into places not meant to withstand that kind of pressure. I would use the pressure washer only to remove "bulk" dirt, then follow with a...
