Yeah, I agree with the safety and familiarity of the DA. OTOH, if a rotary would be smoother (less vibes, perhaps) and no "walking away" tendencies, then it's also a very good choice.

Harleyguy, How would you compare the Flex DA against the 3403 in terms of smoothness? Do you experience the 'pad skipping' or 'walking away symptom' like Emile posted? I'm about to place an order, but still torn between the Flex DA and the 3403. Is it to assume that the 3403 would be smoother...

Emile, Do you think the Flex 3403 would also yield the same results as the DA, and easier to control on the vertical panels? The flexibility of using different pads sizes + price difference seems to swing in favor of the 3403.

Hmmm, Harleyguy,thanks for the input. Another thing favorable in the 3403 (as against to the 3401) is the price. There's about $70 price difference. So my thinking initially was for a lower price, I can get a machine with a potential to shorten my polishing time. I've also read about the Flex...

Same here, I'm also getting a bit impatient when I polish with my PC. I'm thinking either getting the 3401 or move to a rotary. But the weight issue of the Makita seems too much, thus I am also considering the 3403. Harleyguy, would you 'recommend' the 3403 to one who's starting out on a rotary?

I need to buy a set of 6.5" pads. Are the new LC Hydrotech pads a good 'substitute' for the CCS orange+white+black combo? I'll be using them with the Menzerna P203s and PO85rd on Honda paint. Thanks. Raoul
