    Rupes Visits Autogeek

To my knowledge Mike, this was the first time the tools have been used on any project outside of RUPES USA in the US. I have no idea what the crazy Europeans have done :)

    New Rupes Polisher AMMONYC

I would like to make a few things clear. The BigFoot Mark II has been in development for almost 2 years. I was first shown one last December (10 months) ago. I received and have been using one for the last 6 months. This is a case of RUPES working very hard to trump themselves. Secondly, the...

    RUPES 21es RPM question

I used to own a speed3. I've gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and now drive a Chevy Volt... lol. Yes, that is my girlfriend's CBR. :props:

    RUPES 21es RPM question

:dblthumb2: Thank you very much. To my knowledge the only tachometer that could read my head RPM would be throw off by how imbalanced the shape my my head is. I supposed it is lucky I work for RUPES who figured out how to counter balance such a large orbit, otherwise I would probably need a...

    RUPES 21es RPM question

On a random orbital polisher, the terms OPM and RPM can become a little a confusing. The way the the polisher works is that it converts motor RPM into shaft RPM. In the case of the of the BigFoot, this ratio is 4.8:1... So the motor spins at maybe 28k RPM, which translates to 4200 shaft RPM...

More Glossier finishing polish: Rupes Keramik gloss or Rupes Diamond Gloss?

Yes. There is some leeway on which pads can be used with which compounds.

    Rupes BigFoot Microfiber Backing Plate

Technically, yes... kinda... You CAN use a microfiber pad on a gear-driven polisher (forced rotation) but movement of the pad (a reverse U) will likely create a grippy surface and much of the surface of the area of the MF pad will not be efficiently used. You CAN use a wool pad on a random...

Cleaning Zephyr Out Of Microfiber Pads?

Very strange, I have never ever had a problem getting Zephyr out of microfiber, so I don't know of how much help I can be. I will certainly try. With compressed air and enough time, I can blow the pad completely out and it is nearly like-new clean. However, if this isn't an option, I would...

Hard Paints : Rupes Zephir Gloss + Rupes Diamond Gloss or Rupes UHS

Also, note that Zubair's answers are certhainly different than mine, but just as correct. Sometimes environments (humidity, temperature), typical paint systems, and even slight technique differences can add up to drastically different opinions on products. :xyxthumbs: Note: To the get the best...

Hard Paints : Rupes Zephir Gloss + Rupes Diamond Gloss or Rupes UHS

Really depends on the specific paint. One of the problems with very hard clear coats is they can exhaust the abrasive before the abrasive has had a chance to cut effectively. UHS is designed to break down slow, even under the extra friction caused by a high solid clear coat. In clear coat with...

    Rupes BigFoot Microfiber Backing Plate

When we engineered the BigFoot System, one of the major issues we ran into was tool vibration. Not just the lack of comfort, but they way that the imbalance will have an effect on tool life in the long run. Mike Phillips has a great picture of the 21 running at full blast, lifted off the paint...

    Most Aggressive Cutting Rupes Pads

The UHS Compound/ UHS Pad should be cleaned as quick as possible after use. The unique emulsion in the compound and the cell thickness of the pad can make clean up difficult if the pad sits too long. With the blue compound, it should be relatively easy to clean, although sooner is still better.

    Most Aggressive Cutting Rupes Pads

The gray UHS pad with Zephir Blue Compound has become a favorite "outside the box" combination for a number of reasons. As you suggested, the Zephir will usually cut faster and more than the UHS (although on hard paints the performance pendulum can swing) and the finishing ability as quite good...

    Most Aggressive Cutting Rupes Pads

On most paint systems, the blue pad will create a more aggressive cutting action. However on hard paints, in conjunction with the UHS compound, it may actually out cut the blue pad.

Used leatherique, leather now discolored, help

No, stitches aren't part of raw leather. That is damage to the skin of the hide that the re-dye or original dye was trying to hide. On pigmented seats (which you have) the seats are spray painted from the manufacturer (of the seat) to a color. Your original pigmented coating became damaged...

Used leatherique, leather now discolored, help

No, what will show up is whatever they tried to hide. Usually they are not going to re-dye undamaged leather, so what you are likely going to uncover is going to be damaged leather. Yes, it is not going to be good. If you had aniline leather, which was vat-dyed and treated to be exposed you...

Rupes LHR 15ES Subtle Changes 2015?

Late to the party but... Two areas that were identified as potential issues for customers were the power cord and trigger. In the fall of 2014, both of these items were replaced with different designs (the gray trigger and rubber cord) that should yield improved durability. The new Quarz...

Used leatherique, leather now discolored, help

Most car seat leather is pigmented leather. This means that the leather is raw in color (usually a darker gray) and a top coat is sprayed on top that adds both protection and color. When this leather is worn or cracked, the natural leather is usually visible. Judging by the pictures, it...

What pad/compound for glass cleaning and headlight polishing?

Zephir is considerably coarser than Keramik, so for the buffing liquid you will be much better off with it. You can use the Zephir with the yellow microfiber if that's your only option, but the cloth not he blue microfiber is more aggressive (loop vs. cut).
