    Scary pics!

The pics of that Caddy don't even do it justice at all. I have done my friends black '05 CTS and never had any problems with it, especially horrible buffer trails like that (I don't use a rotary though, but even if I did and left trails, I would fix it with a DA!) I have never seen buffer...

    Scary pics!

Over the last few days I have seen a couple HORRIBLE examples of both bad paint and some terrible buffer trails, figured I would share :) WARNING.... if you have a weak stomach, click the "Back" button! Second gen CTS at Meijer earlier today. I was hoping they would be out about the same...

Stupid things your customers have asked

I actually work with a guy that used to "wheel out cars"... We chat once in a while about detailing and he tried to argue with me and convince me that buffing doesn't remove paint, but instead melts it down and fills in the scratches. Same guy also told me that any color except black can be...

How To: Detail Your Engine Like a Professional

Good writeup and great looking engine now! I will say though that I wouldn't really recommend foil to cover the alternator. There is a stud on the back side of an alternator that a positive wire bolts to and is directly connected to the positive side of the battery so it is always energized...

    Good cheap blower

I picked up a ShopVac that also doubles as a blower. The vacuum "head" comes off and turns into a very nice leaf blower. Double duty, I like it! Vacuums up dirty nasty interior and blow dry the outside.

    Tried some 3M 1080 vinyl

Part 2 Start on the other side repeating the process, I found that more slits makes it easier to stretch. Cut a few slits in the vent adjust section, one right down the middle and two on either side by the curved edge to make it fold into the inside easy. Heat and wrap that...

    Tried some 3M 1080 vinyl

Ok, I copied this directly from the forum I wrote it up for, so it is somewhat Bonneville specific, but the basic outline of it should work for other vehicles, trim parts, and vinyls. Please keep in mind that I am not an expert with this, nor am I claiming to be. This is the method I used...

    Tried some 3M 1080 vinyl

I got the wrap on amazon.com, picked up a 1'x5' roll. The specific company it came from was Auto Vinyl Solutions, they were great to work with. Easy to order, and very fast shipping. When I checked the order it said it should be here around Monday, but it came in Friday instead, I was very...

    Tried some 3M 1080 vinyl

I have a 2003 Bonneville SSEi and it has the same boring dash as all the other 2000+ Bonnevilles except the 2004 and 2005 GXP. The GXP had a carbon fiber look to the dash vents which really sticks out and looks very sporty and just overall different and not so plain / boring, but are hard to...

Bentley Mansory GT63 | Matte Wrap (Superior Auto Design South Florida)

Looks amazing! I am not usually a fan of white vehicles, just nothing really that stand out to me about them, but I really like that matte white! I seen your thread a while back about the 3M 1080 carbon fiber film install in a Benz and decided to snag some up myself and just had my first...

    Black Lexus + Scotch-Brite = bad juju.....

Awesome! LOL That paint is horrible, I am sure you will make it look like new again though :dblthumb2: At the local car wash last summer I seen a women with a newer white Monte Carlo using the TIRE cleaner brush and scrubbing as hard as she could all over the back of the car... sometimes...

    You Gotta Be Kidding Me...

I like the flat black look on some cars, it looks very aggressive and it can be pulled off if done right with other accents to make it look like it isn't just a primer job. I too have seen that video recently and actually thought it was pretty cool.

    Fitting Wet-Sanding into plan/intro

I really wouldn't even do any wetsanding on the Cavalier first. You should be able to get a damaged fender or something from a junk yard for dirt cheap, let that be your test subject. The Cavalier might not be anything special, but why risk sanding through the clear coat if you don't have to...

    Fitting Wet-Sanding into plan/intro

I would really suggest not getting into wetsanding right now. Get your polishing skills refined first. See what you can remove and what you can't remove with just the polisher, pads, and polishes. After you get that down then get a damaged fender or hood or something from a junkyard for...

    Big trucks and SUVs

A 5 gallon bucket isn't a very safe thing to stand on as they are usually flimsy and if they are ever left in the sun or are older they get very brittle and can crack or just shatter without warning. Best to use a normal stool or platform designed to hold the weight and be safe / sturdy.

Employment issues - any and all advice welcome!

Wow, it is unreal to hear that the hardest thing for you to find isn't an employee that can actually detail to a professional quality level, but instead an employee that is punctual, respectful, and has at least some amount of work ethic. It is just crazy seeing this with the motivation I have...
