That is one of the reasons I stay away from the kits. With many of them you end up with stuff you will never use. I picked up my UDM last year and it came with a 6" white pad that I have never used. I picked up a bunch of Lake Country CCS 5.5" pads instead. I go through 3 to 4 pads per step.

Exactly what I would recommend. Try to find a hood that was damaged in a wreck but still has a lot of good paint on it. They are only going to get scrap metal price for it, if that, which would be less then $10 so you should be able to pick something up for cheap.
