    maintaining MF towels...

Use unscented detergent. Fill tub with cold water mix in soap then throw in towels. Do not use a dryer, air dry only. I have several different batches of towels. One batch white waffle weaves for glass only. One batch of green waffles for drying, one batch of miracles (long nap) for removing...

what jackstands to get so i don't get crushed

One thing I have not seen mentioned is making sure you lift the vehicle by the proper points listed by the manufacture. Putting a jackstand or lifting in the wrong spot can cause some serious damage. When I need to get my Camaro up high I lift all 4 corners equally they use pinned jackstands...

My first real detail and coating

Wish I had a friend that would volunteer to wet sand my entire car. that's a major undertaking and you should have an awesome finish when done. Sure hope you don't need it for a week or more cause there are a couple steps in between sanding and polishing. When I bought my new Camaro I...

    claybar recomendations

I have never used a one step, I have other product to use up. I was thinking about trying it but we have both our cars ceramic coated so it's not needed. I only do family and friend's cars as a hobby. I just did a car using a yellow pad and Poorboys SSR1 on a friends car but he didn't have...

    claybar recomendations

you cannot polish or do paint correction in the sun. The surface has to be cool to the touch. Maybe on a overcast cooler day you could get away with it but I always do it inside. A one step product does minor paint correction, polish, and protectant at the same time. Thus two step, polish...

    claybar recomendations

When I say polish I use a DA and a product like Meguiars Ultra Polish with a white pad. This is the last step in any correction. It can also be done by itself. After you polish you want to protect the paint you have just so spent so much time getting to shine. Polishing does not protect, it...

    claybar recomendations

First step is wash the car then do an inspection. (do you need to fix swirl marks, do you care?) Then bug and tar remover, wash places you hit with tar remover. Revised: forgot the IronX step, Then clay bar and use a generous amount of clay lube. I use fine clay and if you are marring you are...

    Paint scuff

same issue just yesterday. Used a white pad and a swirl remover, then had to go to an orange pad and swirl remover and that took care of it. Then hit it with a white pad and polish to finish it off. Did it all by hand. I used the least aggressive pad and product to start then just went far...

Drying towels , 1-2 towels enough? And MF towel detergent question.

I use 10 MF towels to do a rinseless and it only takes one waffle weave to dry. I throw them in the washer after and use a free and clear then hang dry, do not use the dryer and never mix with anything else with your MF towels. You don't need a special MF cleaner for the washer.

how often should i buy microfiber towels?

They can last a long time if you take care of them. I wash in a scentless (must be scentless) detergent and air dry, do not dry in a dryer. If a towel gets dirty then it passes to the wheel pile or the interior pile. I also use color coded specialty towels for polishing and wax removal...

Small garage and just got new car HELPP!!!!

Your post really doesn't make sense. You have 10" on each side going through the door opening, if that's the issue 10" is plenty of room just be careful until you get use to it. You have 10" on each side once parked? How do you get out if you can only open door 10"? Can you park closer on the...

How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

We bought a 2019 Camry XSE V -6 for the wife last Oct and she gets about 24.5mpg mix city and highway. Little disappointed in that. And yes the shift points on the transmission are take some getting used to. It does shift solid though. So far so good. We got 5% below dealer invoice out the door.

    Honda Accord

I would suggest expel. If you have to pick between ceramic and expel cover the front of the car and rockers first. Ceramic will not stop scratches or swirl marks but expel will stop rock chips.

    Am I claying too hard?

If you're pushing that hard you must be making a mess. You let the clay glide over the paint with minimal pressure. Start with a good car wash, then Iron X, tar and bug, then clay, then a second wash. Should be no longer then about an 1 - 1 1/2 hrs to do everything. Then you can start paint...

    California Blade

Going to try out Griots rinseless wash. Does anyone use a California blade to dry instead of drying microfiber? Is there any hazing or do you still need to buff.
