Looking for a "Glassy Hard Candy Shell" look out of a LSP...

Duragloss #111/601 @ a 4:1 mixture followed 1 hour later by #111 alone. Trust me, this will get you that look and offer very durable protection at the same time. I actually prefer the look you're trying to obtain as opposed to the warm, carnauba-like look that people love.

Which Duragloss products are your favorites ?

Started a thread about some "heavyweight" (durability-wise) LSP's were knocked out after 3 exposures to road salt. You know what didn't wear down: Duragloss 271 on the black trim running along the car half way down the door, 2 feet from the road. I applied 2 coats in early October and it's still...

All LSP's shot on lower panels; user error?

I hear you man. Before Saturday's revelations, I was keen on purchasing/trading for products already known for outstanding protection, that could be layered within an hour or two b/w coats so that I could put down multiple layers in one day: polycharged Klasse/WGDGPS/Sonax Nano LiquidWax; ZFX'd...

All LSP's shot on lower panels; user error?

Wash, clayed, then: KAIO underneath KSG P21s Cleanser underneath the Collinite & BFWD 501/601 Underneath 601/105 601/111. Are you seeing opposite results from what I am with any of these LSP's? Now THAT is cool. I have the Optimum Opti-Eraser & as long as it doesn't scratch the paint, I could...

All LSP's shot on lower panels; user error?

Clayed all the panels, can't remember if I mentioned that. I just had the expectation that these "protective heavyweights" would hold for at least a month, I mean c'mon. :dunno: Wish I would have know this before I purchased all these different LSP's. The hype machine caught hold of me and...

All LSP's shot on lower panels; user error?

Carried out my winter prep about a month ago. Put 6 different LSP's on various panels to compare with each other: collinite 915, Klasse Sealant Glaze, Duragloss 601/501 followed by 601/105, and DG 601/501 followed by 601/111, and BFWD. All panels were clayed and were prepped with paint cleanser...

    Most regretted detailing product purchase

That is very peculiar. E39 here, and 271 works great on the front trim mouldings. Have you tried APC,undiluted, and washing any APC residue left over after prepping?

    Most regretted detailing product purchase

:iagree: Any inconsistencies are most likely attributable to user error. 271 lasts and lasts, and at $7.99 a bottle? Can't beat it, period.

Own a classic...but at what price?!

I currently own an e39 ('00 540i) with 67,000 miles on the clock, yet it's off the road every few months for this, that, or the other; frozen brake calipers, water pump failure, valve cover gaskets, etc. I have been able to do all the work myself, so i save money, but spending hour after hour...

Pinnacle Liquid Crystal WW as a RINSELESS?

I know you can make a waterless wash soultion with a rinseless product, but can you dilute a waterless product like Pinnacle WW into a bucket and perform a rinseless wash like you would with ONR? Ultima WW is named just that - a waterless wash- while overwhelmingly used, and marketed, as a...

    Fast curing products for layering

OCW & DGPS are both outstanding products. I just don't have the 8-12 hours of time (at least, given temps this time of year) to spare between layers. I also don't know if two layers of either have the "legs" to make it through winter on a daily driver in the Northeast. Then again, I was talking...

    Fast curing products for layering

From the tests I have been conducting, I now believe in the incredible benefits of layering liquid LSP's; increased durability and better looks, without a doubt. I'm now trying to narrow my product choices down to those that cure in the shortest period of time, thus allowing me to put down...

    $50 order samples

My original post was a sterling example of why digital communication can obfuscate the tone someone is trying to convey in their message. I meant my post to be of a playful, nostalgic nature, not a complaint leveled at Autogeek. Why? We're all adults. There's no need for censorship in this...

What do you use to dry your car?

Leaf blower and waffle weave drying towel. I blow as much water off the vehicle with the blower and BLOT BLOT BLOT BLOT any residual H2O with the waffle weave. This combo allows for a minimal amount of contact with the paint, while the blotting negates the possibility of inducing any swirls.

Spotting cars that have had bodywork.

A few things I have picked up on: (i.) Some cars will have vin stickers on on both fenders, on the inside of the engine bay. If there is only one sticker, chances are the fender was replaced or repainted. (ii.) Dust naps. If a panel has been resprayed before, if there were any particles of...

    Optimum Opti-Clean >UWW+ as a rinseless pre-soak?

He doesn't think so: Im the MAN Ha! Ha! That's where I was most interested about. How does it compare to a normal ONR presoak? Even after the subsequent rinseless wash?
