    Finding Money

I worked at a full service car wash 20 years ago and was vacuuming and there was a pack of $100's under the mat. The other vacuum guy and I notified the customer that she had left $5000 under the mat. We were concerned about it disappearing down the line and the blame falling on us. As a...

    Portable Mobile Power

My 700 watt inverter won't power anything but my PC. It will run my vacuum (slowed some) which is 9amp. A 1500 watt though would run any of my equipment (9amp vac, 13amp steamer, 1000watt heater, PC or Rotary). My generator will run any two pieces of my equipment. I used the steamer and...

    Storage question

I take my towels from my truck every couple of days and dump them in a container by the washer. Once a week I wash the three loads (grunge, window, drying) and put them in laundry bags. I store most in my truck but my excess grunge gets stored in garage. My wax towels get stacked inside and...

    Portable Mobile Power

I've had 3 generators over the past 12 years. All were inexpensive. Current on is the 2500 yellow one from Pepboys and other place for around $250. Been using it for over a year now and very pleased. Although a few Hondas I've heard are a little quieter this one has been my quietest yet. I...

    Spit-Shining

I tried this before and didn't notice any difference. Possibly user error. Wonder if I could use a piece of glass and build it up to the point the you could scrape it off. Also if the cold hardens the wax so that it doesn't come off couldn't you just add layers upon layers on a cold winter day?

    Air compressor for blower?

I don't worry at all about the dirt blowing on the car. I just use mine for blowing out water from trim and such. Usually the lowest I'm blowing is the lug nuts. I hold the blower maybe a 6-12" away and when I'm walking around with it I always point it up. Sometimes I'll see something light...

    What are your other hobbies?

My hobbies change from time to time. Current activities are 1) Guitar again, sold everything years ago and quit playing. My wife got me an Epiphone Silverburst Les Paul and I added a Line 6 Spider III 120. Super happy with both 2) Webkins, the kids started this and then my wife got started...

Blitz wax vs Dodo Juice wax vs AG's wax offerings

Never used Blitz or Dodo Juice. Of my 30 or so paste waxes, Pinnacle Souveran and Max Wax are two of my favorites. I find different waxes work better on different paints and some vehicles are waxed more often than other so no one wax would work for me. On my personal vehicles Souveran has...

Clay bars, your weapon of choice and why

If I'm detailing the car I use whatever is cheapest. I have a grab bag of assorted clays for that and when that runs out I have 5 200gram bars that were $40 with shipping. For spot claying and keeping up on cars that I clean weekly I use a milder clay. Currently I have about 15 bars of the...

    Air compressor for blower?

My air compressor empties out quite fast if I'm blowing. I bought a cheap 150mph leaf blower at Walmart for $27 for blowing out water from the exterior and it works like a champ. It does exactly what I want it to do. I haven't a single complaint about it.

    What is strongest wet/dry vac?

Although not always true I have generally found the higher the amps the better the suction. The Blue Gray shop vacs found at Lowes with the 11amp (some might be larger) I've found to be durable, affordable and powerful. They have one that is identical to shop vac 5872462 for around $70. I...

Silicone or Water Based Tire Dressing: What's better and Why?

I feel that way too. I really don't care about shine but I want the tire black and even. Looks aside it also seems to me any protective value of dressing wouldn't matter much since few ever clean or dress the other side of the tire.

    Pinnicle Sale??? When??? Anyone???

I'm hoping for one of the 2 for special someday on the xmt180 and ssII. Picked up my Souveran and Maxwax that way. Both are two of my favorites and looking forward to getting the others mentioned this year.

Silicone or Water Based Tire Dressing: What's better and Why?

I think you may mean solvent based dressings vs water based. Most dressing use silicone although there are some speciality dressing for body shops that are silicone free. Water based is generally milky looking where solvents tend to be clear or blue but sometimes other colors are used. As I...

I need a new shop vac

The 4gal 5hp Rigid is popular (I use one). I'd get the similar style 5gal 5.5hp (2512411)shop vac though. I have the 5.5hp motor in another vacuum and the power is noticeably higher. I think the Rigid is 9amp and the ShopVac 11amp. I love the Rigid for it's design and size. While powerful...

    two grit guards necessary

I suppose there is a benefit to using two but it would have to be small. I figure by the time you have rinsed the mitt you are just going to dunk it in the wash bucket. Any dirt that would scratch should have settle to the bottom and unless you are swirling the mitt around shouldn't be a...

    Water Filteration Kit Worth It????

I've tried a softener filter and it help but didn't become spotless. Instead I got spot that were easier to clean off but that wasn't what I had hoped for. I never measured before and after readings. I think one of the problems with the softener filters is the method of regeneration. I don't...
