    PC 7424 XP counter weight

Like Bob, I changed out the counterweight in my PC before I used it the first time. And never changed it again even for smaller 3" backing plates. Here's Mike Phillip's reply, when asked if different cw's are required for different sized bp's: "No. The entire counterweight issue had more to...

    Aqualpel, not worth the hype

Rain is something my vehicles see a lot of, living here in Vancouver BC. I'm trying the Pinnacle Glass Twins this winter. It is so-so (so far) - the Rain-X performs much better at initial application. The rain will dance off at around 45mph, but somehow hesitatingly, not flying off as I...

    Wheel brushes

If you're in the business of detailing, then you'd probably need many types of wheel and tire cleaning tools because they come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs, not to mention the condition they're in when brought to your shop/place of work, so you need to be prepared. For a hobbyist...

Can I air dry my microfibers?

My wife and I have moved away from dryer sheets a while back, around the same time I started this crazy detailing hobby/addiction. We use dryer balls such as these: No need for IPA wipedown. No vinegar needed (they stink). I add extra rinse on the wash cycle. When done, I transfer towels...

    Rinseless streaking

Let me get something straight offhand - was the streaking before or after the Mother's spray wax?

Coated my tires today and WOW,

At Day 38 (or 5-and-half weeks): The TW Coating still shows a lot of sheen, there is absolutely no browning, and it's holding up well through lots of rains and a few days of salt but no snow. This picture was taken after a previous night of ONR sponge wash and this morning's 40 minute drive to...

    House Detailing!

Optimum Power Clean on my floor stone tiles. A brush, elbow grease, and some rags for wipe down, and my floor including the grout gets back to looking like new again. Also used it to clean garbage bins and my shower stall at one time.

Ultima Waterless Wash Plus - Where have you been?

I wouldn't wipe in S motions with waterless washes. If this is your first attempt at waterless method, you're forgiven. :) You just don't want the dirt you've picked up to be dragged all across the panel. Next time, fold the towel into 4. Then try to wipe in one direction only. At the end...

    Headlamp Flashlight?

I have had the Black Diamond 130 lumen version for a long time and initially bought it for camping. Then 3 years ago, while doing a rinseless wash inside the garage at night, I thought I needed more light and decided to use it. Knocking my head for not using it before then!! Comes in handy...

    DP Tire Cleaner & Coating

Nice results with DP. If I didn't have a tire coating right now, I'd want to try it. But hey, if you're still in the hunt for alternative tire coatings, you should check out this mega-thread: Coated my tires today and WOW! Just curious, what were your issues with Tuf Shine?

Ultima Waterless Wash Plus - Where have you been?

Never used it as a clay lubricant, but I've used it as a pre-soak for rinseless wash.

Help With Aerospace 303 on Dash

I hit all interior plastics with OPC 1:10 once every month or so, followed by 303. Otherwise, every week just a scrub with damp MF towel, followed by a dry MF towel.

Help With Aerospace 303 on Dash

I've had no issues with 303. I also have a Sienna, and its dash has been 303-protected since I bought it new in 2008. No fading, no marks, no residue, etc. I've tried applying it direct or on MF towel first - either way was fine. But I prefer spraying on towel first because I have much more...

    Hard smooth plastic protectant

That's odd. Been using Klasse AIO on plastic trim for years, never had that issue. Everything I use it on comes out great looking and well protected for months.

    Hard smooth plastic protectant

I use Klasse AIO on all my external plastic trim, all of them are smooth.

    WeatherTech Cargo Liners

Can't say enough about these liners. The digital fit versions match every contour, every dip and bend and bump of the vehicle's floor. They're much thinner than generic rubber floor mats which are heavier, denser and clunkier looking. And so, much easier to clean. A top upgrade for any vehicle.

    Shelf Life Question

I used my 5.5 year old Menz twins last summer. Stored in garage for 5 winters but never frozen. Still cut and polished beautifully. You should be okay!
