Coated my tires today and WOW,

The over-under on this is not ya or nay, but the number of weeks it will last. Right now, mine are at 4 weeks in the middle of winter and still going strong (see my last pic). I'm guessing it will last another 4 weeks of Vancouver winter. And I bet it will easily last double that (4 months)...

Coated my tires today and WOW,

If anyone's wondering (cause I've been asked about 2 weeks ago at work), my steelies and tires are both 4 years old. I apply a coat of Poorboy Wheel Sealant on the steelies every year, and this year the same day I applied TW. All it takes to bring the shine back is ONR.

Coated my tires today and WOW,

Yup, yup and yup to everything said. This is the best bang for your buck when it comes to tire shine durability, even at full price. Today is Day 29 or just a day over 4 weeks: First 3 weeks after application were lots of rain, almost everyday, heavy at times. The last week was completely dry...

Coated my tires today and WOW,

The past 6 days have dry but below freezing temps. They've putting down salt on most roads almost every morning. My tires look whitish from all the salt. We'll see how they clean up this weekend, almost at the 30 day mark.

    Drying Car?

I use them for on-the-fly pad cleaning, interior wipe down, carpet scrubbing, cleaning my bike chain, and drying myself. :)

New life in rubber floot mats

I have both types. Actually, I've had several of the generic rubber mats, including ones from the manufacturer (Toyota and Audi, in this case). The WeatherTech digital liners are more plasticky and more rigid, not easily bent - they conform and fit the contours of the floor of my van...

Coated my tires today and WOW,

Having used the TW coat, I don't think any brush will work well. Too runny, like someone said. If you're talking about aerosol vs. non-aerosol, get the non-aerosol version. I haven't seen any other version in my neck of the woods.

New life in rubber floot mats

I've had my WeatherTech floor liners (digital fit version) since April 2008 in my van - that's almost 7 years old. Nothing but Optimum Power Clean (1:3 or 1:10 depending on dirt level) and a nylon brush have touched them in all these years, once every month or so. Rinsed off with a hose and...

School Me on Using Spray on Wax as a Drying Aid

There's a few reasons why one would do this. - avoid water spots. A QD eliminates them as you dry. - save time and be efficient. If you're going to spray wax anyway, you don't need to dry the entire car off. Wax as you dry!!! - gloss enhancer. A lot of people like that "just waxed" look...

    Microfiber vs Chamois

I like to keep it simple. "Find a product you like and use it." - Mike Phillips. Well, I found Micro-Restore 7 years ago and never looked back. 1 oz per load is all it takes. Punch in extra rinse in the machine, and transfer everything to the dryer when done. Set on low/delicate setting and put...

Auto Magic or Meguiars for drying aid?

You can't prevent it, it's already done. We're all married to our car's paint.

    Waterless wash / No Rinse

You can even use 2BM with rinseless, which is my preferred method.

    First attempt at polishing

If your purpose is to check that your initial polishing steps worked and not simply filling in the swirls, then yes go ahead. But Mike Philips notes that the act of IPA wipedown itself (or any chemical stripper) may cause marring because IPA is not a lubricant. So the question becomes, did...

    How to detail quicker

I'm actually interested in more details about his process. If I can squeeze in a full exterior detail between breakfast and lunch, my wife would be tickled pink and not treat me like a stranger. For example, what wash method? Rinseless, WW, or traditional hose. How long did each step take? Did...

Coated my tires today and WOW,

If you guys are talking about Perl Coat, its claim is it lasts 3 months on tires.

Before I begin with Porta Cable

I should have read your book, Mike. I came to this process on my own after spending 12 hr days working on my cars. I do this for fun and after 5 or 6 hours of polishing and seeing only half the job is done, every step or movement became a chore to the point that I started rushing things just to...

    waterless qt question

There's a graphic I've seen somewhere here on AG, that will give you an idea when to use each. But allenk4 has pretty much summed it up.

I'd skip the IPA wipe, but that's just me.

Review & How-To: Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax

    1) Not just this product, but any rinseless wash is an alternative method where water restrictions are in place, or it's too cold outside, or you're too lazy to drag out the hose, etc. 2) If you're claying and polishing anyway, there's no need for the extra wax in a rinseless wash. Stick to...
