    Danger of dealer "free" washing

Honestly, the best thing you can do is re-polish your car and in the future tape a note to the steering wheel. If you seek repair through the dealership they'll likely insist on sending your car through their detailing department which will likely result in holograms, paint burns, and overall...

    Car Wash Soaps

Check out this video from Mike Philips' Show Car Garage days: How to Wash Your Car (ShowCar style!)# According to Mike, suds are not an integral part of the washing process. Some soaps are intentionally not sudsy. If they provide lubricity and cleaning power but not suds they're still a...

    Danger of dealer "free" washing

The sad news is . . . they probably didn't run your car through a car wash. They probably hand washed it. It's just that dealers are so inept at car washing that they swirl the heck out of the finish of every car they touch. This summer I was at the dealer for service and I was walking around...

Any Sealant To Give Ice Silver Paint a Darker Finish

Most sealants leave a very bright finish so using a sealant will likely have the opposite affect that you're looking for.

Products exposed to subzero temps during shipping...

Don't even worry about it. I live in New England and I've ordered products during the winter many, many, many times. Where I live is MUCH colder than where you live and I've never unpacked a shipment and found a frozen bottle.

    Menzerna 85RD vs Zaino AIO

There was a great article posted by Dave KG on either Autopia or Detailing World a while back about finishing with a rotary vs. finishing with a PC7424. I searched for it and couldn't find it, but the end result was that the heat and power of the rotary breaks down the diminishing abrasives...

    Car Wash Soaps

Optimum Car Wash Soap is great. It's definitely one of my favorites.

    Car Wash Soaps

I've not tried his microfiber. I personally don't like the look of a sealant. I'm a carnauba guy. So, his products don't really appeal to me. The Zaino leather products sound interesting, but I don't like that Sal seems to twist the truth of basic detailing to sell more product.

    start 2 finish...one line

The best thing you can do then is read the forums. See what other people are using and read why they like them. There's a lot of personal opinion involved in this hobby and my opinion won't necessarily match with your personal experience. One thing I did when I first started was go with the...

    Car Wash Soaps

Generally speaking you can use just about any car wash soap. Optimum makes a great car wash soap, Duragloss is really popular, Poorboy's also has a great soap, and Pinnacle makes a good one too. Just FYI . . . Sal also for years advised people not to use microfiber towels when everyone else...

I would tend to doubt that very many people use the same product line entirely.

    Pad Cleaner Options

Recently? The XMT Pad Cleaner and XMT Pad Conditioner have been around for a few years. The conditioner is used to prime the pad before buffing not for cleaning the pad. So, comparing the conditioner to the other two is apples & oranges. The XMT Pad Cleaner is pretty effective. It's a...

    Favorite Tire Dressing?

I've been using the DP gel for years, but it doesn't last very long especially if there is rain. I just ordered some Optimum today and I'm hoping it holds up better.

    Frozen products

:iagree: Some products are more sensitive to cold than others. I would bring them inside so that they thaw more quickly. See which ones are bad and then if it's a big loss file a damage claim with your mover.

    Strength of wheel cleaners

:iagree: I like the DP as well. It's a fairly effective wheel cleaner and an excellent tire cleaner. P21S is even more effective as a wheel cleaner but I wouldn't use it on tires. Then there are REALLY strong acid cleaners like Megs Wheel Brightener. I definitely wouldn't use it on tires...

    4" pads on 3" polisher?

That's what I just got, but with it being winter it will be a while before I can test out the pads on the machine.

Is a rotary THAT dangerous for a rookie?

A lot of people used to say the only way you could damage paint with a PC7424 was if you dropped the machine on your car. Then I saw a friend take one to his car with a 4" orange (maybe even yellow) pad and Menz Powergloss. He was happily smoking away on his cigarette and then poof! He burned...

    4" pads on 3" polisher?

I think he's saying to use the pads that come with the kit on the Griot's 3" polisher. Not to use the Polishin' Pal instead of the Griot's 3" polisher. Do you have the Gen I or Gen II machine?

Pressure washers: What do you use them for?

I find the pressure washer to be an indespensible tool when washing. I use it each and every time when I wash a car (especially my own). First, I LOVE the foam cannon. FAR superior IMO to the foam gun. It makes washing more fun and faster. How can you beat that? Second, "carpeted" wheel...
