    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

After reading about clear vinyl ppf films that can cause headlight cracking by trapping heat, I think I may try this water based urethane as a removable film layer. I know for fact that if the headlight is polished smooth, the spar will peel off eventually, and I'm ok with that. I do not want...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Home depot has been selling the water based spar urethane for a while now. Has anyone used the water based spar? It claims it does not have amber color like oil based paints do. Also, can be thinned with water. Or it can be applied thicker for better durability. Minwax Water Based Helmsman 1...

    Coated leather still needs protectant

I was actually going to cover the headrests with a towel. But I have several cans of Pledge sitting unused, and Pledge claims it is good for this exact type of leather. Cleaning Wood Furniture | Lemon Clean Furniture Spray | Pledge®...

    Coated leather still needs protectant

I've read arguments about not needing to put anything on coated leather seats because nothing penetrates them, or because anything on top attracts dirt. Well, I just felt the backside of the leather headrests on the backseats of my 6 year old car, which is parked outside 24/7, and the coating...

how fast does the flex 3401 rotate?

In the beginning of the video, it appears the pad rotates very slowly. Is the camera not catching how fast it really rotates, or does it really rotate that slowly? It looks like it rotates 10x slower than a rotary [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Arn_kVH3BVc]In depth Look at the FLEX 3401...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Mine stayed on for a year, and when it peeled off, I realized that polishing the headlights before applying spar would not provide the bite it needs to adhere well. Also, if you have a clear plastic cd jewel case, put some on and you will see the amber tint. My next experiment will be putting...

    Opti-lens yellowing after 90 days

I looked up what car headlights are covered with, and it appears they use a hard silicone coating. The problem with paint clearcoat is that it can peel from the edges. I was looking into other materials to cover headlights besides clear film, and I found Doctor Headlight uses a "patented"...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I used spar urethane a couple years ago, but I don't like it because it has a yellow tint to it. It also fails and peels off in about a year. 2-part clear coat on sanded headlights seems to be more durable. You can get a non yellowing clear + hardener for $20 in a rattle can.

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

today I was buffing with the foam pad, and the felt partially ripped off the foam. When I went to rip the foam pad off, the felt was pretty hot. The foam part was not hot though. Is this common with foam pads? heat transfer to the hook and loop mechanism? I'm wondering if I should get 7" foam...

Leave a waxed car in the sun for 20 years. Will paint fail?

Dark cars seem to get pitting earlier, often, I would guess. That paint is burning hot all the time. My older silver car does not have pitting issues. I hope I'm saving my dark paint in time. I used cutting compound and da polisher on a few sections of the roof, and it looks a lot better...

Leave a waxed car in the sun for 20 years. Will paint fail?

I asked this question because I see 10 year old hondas and toyotas with completely failed, peeling paint on the horizontal paint surfaces. I don't want my car looking like that. had to make sure wax was sufficient to protect against the sun, and not merely for water beading and extra gloss...

    Tree Sap Woes, Please Help!

WD40 usually removes all kinds of gunk from paint. I get small pinpoint size dried sap all the time, and I use a credit card against the edge of the sap to break the bond between the sap and paint. I use both hands to control pressure so the card doesn't travel more than it needs to. Claybars...

Leave a waxed car in the sun for 20 years. Will paint fail?

I have never kept a car for 20 years, but would like to. If the car is waxed every 3 months and left in the sun everyday for 20 years, will the paint fail, considering only the sun's effects?
