Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

that's probably it. When I first used it, I put too much pressure. Then I put it on my bathroom scale and was surprised how little pressure it takes to make 15 pounds.

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

I just used this for the first time today. I like side switch location- perfect spot for my left thumb. I also taped the exposed velcro on the edge of backing pad, and so far, my harbor freight pad hasn't been chewed up yet. Will continue to use tomorrow and polish out my pitted paint.

DA Polisher Articles - Help for Newbies to Machine Polishing

How fast is the backing pad supposed to rotate when polishing? I watched the "section pass" video and it looks like the black line is rotating very slowly, about 60 rpm. I just used a DA polisher for the first time today, and applying 15-20 pounds pressure seems to make the pad rotate slowly...

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

dammit. I took off the counterweight, and I'm looking at the hexnut trying to figure out how to disassemble it. According to the exploded diagram, there are 3 screws I can't get to because they are blocked by the "eccentric wheel" bearing thing. any help?

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

Anyone..... Is there a way to not have the pads blow up, if you only have one pad? I only plan to polish my trunk and roof, which are covered in small pit marks, and I only have one pad. Stop after finishing the trunk, and wash the pad? or mist some water on it?

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

My ghetto mod to the backing plate. Used 3M packaging tape to cover the outer half inch of the velcro. The tape is pretty thick and should hold up against the prickly velcro. Only the smooth side of the tape touches the foam. The tape's not going anywhere. Hopefully this will prevent the...

Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New

I just got this polisher. I need instructions. How do you remove the backing plate? Also, are DA's supposed to have a bit of rattling noise on lowest speed, and when spinning down? It almost sounds like something is loose inside. That normal?

    Meguiars foam applicator pads

are they as good as meguiars pads? or do they crumble and fall apart after a few uses? I see the ones on ebay $2.85 for 12. wax applicator foam | eBay and they look like they're crap. meguiars pads are very durable and puffy even after dozens of uses. I would like to stock up on a few more...

    Video: All about Meguiar's M105, M101 and M100 Compounds

Re: Questions about Meguiar's M105, M101 and M100 Compounds? Watch this video! Thanks for clarifying. Clear coat failure it is. I was working on a rear spoiler. I read it's quite common to have clear coat failure on spoilers.

    Video: All about Meguiar's M105, M101 and M100 Compounds

Re: Questions about Meguiar's M105, M101 and M100 Compounds? Watch this video! I have never used M105, however, I have used Ultimate Compound, which is said to be derived from M105. One issue I noticed with UC is that the oils in the compound seem to make the oxidation go away, but as soon as...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

i'm posting an update on my headlight status. 1 year after I sprayed spar urethane, the urethane is finally starting to fail. left it out in the sun all year, and never waxed it.

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

10 months since I sprayed spar on my lights. still holding up. the spray goes on thicker, so i don't expect them to wear out as quickly. car is parked outside 24/7 in soCal. with the old method of polish only, I would've been back to yellow lights within 2 months.

car soap is glorified hair shampoo

I am glad you are all getting a kick out of this. I am enjoying the jokes myself. Really though, I use Meguiar's deep crystal car wash. it's cheap, and does the job. But I also had a bunch of free bottles of VO5 laying around, so i decided to try. It really knocked the dirt off my wheels...

car soap is glorified hair shampoo

tried some cheap VO5 shampoo; the ones you get at the drug store for ~70 cents per 15oz bottle. that comes out to $3 per half gallon. lots of suds. doesn't strip wax. if it's safe enough for your scalp, it's safe enough for your paint.

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

you could probably use the same rag method. you would need to thin it with water. I dunno how durable that would be though. the spray method allows me to spray on a thicker coat with no streaks or anything. it literally took me less than 1 minute to finish spraying a headlight. it's the...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

yes. i sprayed the headlights already. it turned out good. no mineral spirits required. the trick to spraying is to not move the can too fast, or else it will not turn out clear. you should hold the spray ~5 inches away from the light, and only move about 9 inches/second side to side. take a...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

according to the can, the water based one is not recommended to be used on floors. so i assumed it was less durable than the oil based, and bought the oil based aerosol instead. the tint is really negligible. it's clear enough
