    Meg's and boats

Depending on the condition, a strong marine compound if med/high oxidation, I have problems sometimes with heavy marine compounds drying on neglected boats, the gel-coat will just suck up most car products (have to work harder/use excess product $$). Once the oxi is removed and compounded,car...

    Mineral oil

Has any tried using mineral oil on a really dry gelcoat. I was reading the ingredients of 3m's imperial comp and finishing material , and white mineral oil in listed, so I doubt it could harm the surface. I experimented on a small section of a boat. I first rubbed a little in to the gel coat and...

    Tips for Detailing My Boat

Collinite paste wax 885 "best wax on the water!", or # 925(easier to apply/remove). I've had great success with Meg's M21 Synthetic Sealant.

Need some boat detailing process advises!

From what I've heard you can't buff or polish Awlgrip. Not even apply wax. If you do it will permanently haze it or start to yellow if wax is applied. That the shine will remain for many many years with basic cleaning. More info here...

    Ran over something

My wife ran over something on the freeway, I have no clue what it is, it has the look and feel of silicon adhesive for bathrooms. There is a good amount of it ,most of it is in the wheel well. I can pinch some off with my nails but some are still tacky and leave a residue behind. Any advice on...

    Polish & Finesse

What are the best product recommendations for gel-coat. I've messed around with some car polishes (m205 ect...) with a foam pad. They do remove faint swirls but the gelcoat sucks up the product to quick and leaves caked on product unless you use a lot.

    Wash down

My wife has a new car, I was washing it yesterday and there was a bunch of those yellow pollen/insect droppings along with a good amount of smashed bugs. I foamed up the car pretty well and let it sit for a few but didn't really help that much. I'm just paranoid scratching the paint , how much...

    Black hull

I'll up load a pic tomorrow , mostly have just tried 3m imperial and finishing compound, and collinate paste wax 885. We put a few coats of farecla UV wax and a coat or 2 of the collinate, still burns off after a month. I haven't tried any pure polishes or waxes loaded with silicones and oils...

    Black hull

30ft chaparral with black hull(gel coat), trying to figure out if parts of it are fried/failing. Here are my observations, there are of areas of the hull that appear to be oxidation, upon a closer look the area is slightly faded with what looks like burned/etched in water spots. They 90%...
