    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

The picture in reference was the first pass on a never before used yellow pad. But I do agree that it was too much. That was literally the frist time I ever tried that combo. On another note, with the rotary it seemed like th OC broke down too quickly. I was tempted to use more OC on the...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

Yeah, pretty much just the weight of the machine, but on the verticle panels that a bit tougher than on the haorizontal surfaces to gauge.

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

You're very kind. Maybe not 100%, but a lot pretty indeed. Hopefully as I learn, I'll get her looking 100%.

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

I think this is where my abilities runs out... WATER ETCHING! That stuff is harder to deal with than scratches! So here's where it is REALLY bad. I think the culprit here is the shape of the rear spoiler. It is concave and holds water in it longer than anywhere else on the car. Bad news...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

This is the area under the fuel fill door. I didn't even realize how many scratches were here until I approached it with the polish. Out comes the 2000 gritty! Everbody say hello to my wife :) Same as before, except now with the rotary. OC with a black pad... Then polish with SSR1...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

So as some may have read in my other posts, I picked up a rotary for a great deal at Harbor Freight. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/65687-post28.html So I tried it yesteryday (yeah I know, I should have practiced on that spare fender I have... but like I said before, I was feeling...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

So after doing the hood and one fender (passenger side) I wasn't too thrilled with my results thus far. bambo2888, yes you are right to a point. The Ryobi is a great little tool, but it's in over its head for this project. Honestly, I think a PC would be at this point as well. I'm sure it...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

Next step was a pass with SSR1 with a black Speedy Foam pad on the Ryobi DA. To the left is the un-polished area. (In case you are wondering - yes this is the next day) Sorry for all the different lighting. It definitely is difficult to compare with these pictures when the lighting...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

I've heard decent reviews of the Mother's Clay Bar system so I decided to give it a shot. Does this look on par for the condition of the paint? (i.e. residue on the clay) Ready to compound. I started with Optimum compound with a Speedy Foam yellow pad running on a Ryobi DA...

    1999 Black Cobra Paint Correction

To start we have a 1999 Ford Mustang Cobra with pretty neglected paint. (This owner must be too busy in life to keep this car nice - shame shame). Plenty of scratches, water etching, oxidation and swirlies. This is really my first time attempting something at this level so I have been trying...

    DA vs. Rotary

Okay gentlemen... I guess I am going to learn the rotary! I believe I posted a link to the Chicago 7" rotary but for those that didn't see it here it is: Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices It's on sale this week marked down to $29.99 from $49.99 which is a great deal in...

    DA vs. Rotary

Like some of you may have read in another post, I never bought a PC... I just went with a cheap Ryobi DA for $20 from Home Depot. It works great... its no PC DA, but it does the job. I probably won't every get a PC DA because I'll hop right over to this rotary. If you are afraid to priactice...

    DA vs. Rotary

I am a total beginner but I think I am going to buy a rotary and experiment. I have an extra fender (take off from my mustang that has a small dent on it) that I can use to test the rotary. Harbor Freight has a rotary for $30 that would make a nice tool to learn with: Harbor Freight Tools -...

    DA vs. Rotary

Can someone give me a breif synopsis on the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages of a rotary (Makita 9227CY Polisher) vs. a dual action (i.e. PC 7424). As far as I can tell, everyone is saying that there is a danger in a orbital polisher in that it can heat up quicker and cause damage to...

    1st Detail: 2001 BMW M3

Hey all... I'm Sam's brother (taught him everything he knows... LOL!) Not really, we are both learning together. I started learning on this site a few months ago and really felt that we could get 90% of the results with this cheap DA Ryobi than that of what we can achieve with a PC. No doubt...
