Got a new (to me) car on Friday...

I guess the pictures don't convey just how bad some of the scratches are. They definitely needed it. May have been able to do it with the denim or velvet pads but I haven't used them yet so I am not sure. Tomorrow the compounding and polishing begins!! (full write up to come later)

Got a new (to me) car on Friday...

Cool...I live in the part of Homer Glen that used to be part of Lockport. I am just off 143rd and State. I plan on starting with wet sanding Tuesday morning and working different stages of getting this paint where I would like it throughout the week. PM me if you'd like to stop by and check...

Got a new (to me) car on Friday...

I traded in my '05 Grand Prix for an '08 G8. LOTS of work needs to be done on this car and I can't wait to get started. I still have a couple of write-ups I need to do for the Grand Prix (wet sanded some scratches, DP glass coating review) but for now here are some pics of the new ride...

Giveaway! New & Improved DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss

I have yet to try any type of rinseless or waterless wash product. I have been really impressed with the DP line lately and would live to try this out and give it a review! My new favorite product are the new DP Prep Polish and Paint Coating. :dblthumb2:

NEW! DP Paint, Wheel, & Glass Coatings + Coating Prep Polish!

Not sure if it will help but I would try a quick detailer and buff the spots out really well with a plush microfiber. You have nothing to lose at this point and would be a good experiment. :dblthumb2:

IPA=Isopropyl Alcohol You can use IPA to wipe down your vehicle after you are done polishing and before moving on to waxing/sealing. This will help clean off all the oils/fillers left behind after the polishing step and make it easier for your wax or sealant to bond with your paint. You can...

APC (All Purpose Cleaner) is more for cleaning things like the interior, tires, engine bay, etc. not for cleaning the car. You can wash your car with dish soap (dawn) but only if you are trying to strip off old wax or sealant. If you have already taken the time to compound, polish, and wax or...

DP Paint Coating Review by Suburban Shine

I have only done the hood so far (also did the glass this past weekend, writuep coming soon). The second to the last pic is a full sun shot. Unless you mean something different. I have seen both the beading and sheeting properties on the hood and glass. Water sheets off very well, but does...

    Is Creating An LLP Stupid?

I would try and see if you can do cross promotion with other businesses in your area. Like offering people a $10 off an oil change at Jiffy Lube coupon with any detail service in exchange for them offering something similar to their customers.

    Pure insanity

Just to add to the advice already given...you do not have to clay your car every time you go to do some polishing. Claying only needs to be once or twice a year (usually). If these are short periods of time in between each time you work on your car, you can skip the claying step and save...
