does the car value retains its value when it is maintained?

Agree and don't. Far as wholesalers not caring....it depends. Being a detailer I have a much more keen eye for things that even 40 year veterans of the business dont see. But will I bid more for a super clean car? sort if, but much more from a mechanical standpoint than a visual one because I...

does the car value retains its value when it is maintained?

Of course it helps maintain value. Bigger thing it does is gives you negotiating power at the dealership. You'll be able to get maximum trade in because you can show them how well its been taken care of, therefore, costing the dealer less money in cleaning and service before they can sell it...

Finally starting to realize, detailing isnt forever.

I'm done with this thread guys. I've explained what I do, not how it works for everyone. Hopefully someone can use this information as motivation to take that next step in the business. And good luck to you.

Finally starting to realize, detailing isnt forever.

Changed my mind. get over the whole "car enthusiasts" thing. we arent your typical weekend warrior, car show regular, or auto "geek". Completely different game. I'm talking about making a living buying and selling in the WHOLESALE market, not retail. Retail lots have a lot higher insurance...

Finally starting to realize, detailing isnt forever.

Worked at a dealership part time for 7 years. One of the largest stores in the midwest, nearly 1,000 vehicles. Salesman and managers are really good actors. If you ever saw the way the top sales people dealt with their customers you wouldnt be able to say no. They are instantly your best friend...

Finally starting to realize, detailing isnt forever.

So true. Learned a long time ago not to believe anything you hear from a car dealer, and very little of what you see. Only solution is to become one yourself. Welcome to the dark side.

    Dlux trim seal

I have found that I never have better days than the ones where I get to blow some money. We all have to do it sometimes, in perspective, and moderation, and disciplined.

    Dlux trim seal

No, the point is you only have so much money in your pocket and can only spend it once. Generally the very best products are reserved for high end vehicles, not only because you need to maximize future resale value, don't drive the car much, but also understand that spending that extra cash to...

Starting new shop. Please see pictures

Incredible. Great shop. Only thing I see is "where are the drains"? But that place is more than enough to do well. Good luck, ask if you need advice. But I think you'll be fine.

    Cleaning leather with APC question

Sorry didnt see the method.....bad idea to scrub a 740 with a DA brush. Start out least aggressive then move up

    Cleaning leather with APC question

Explain your method. Was it just spray, agitate and wipe off? If so thats really risky with 4:1 apc. I use a bucket of hot water, spray with apc, then use a boars hair type brush to scrub then remove ASAP. It takes a while to get used to what types of leathers are most sensitive, like Buicks...

    Replenish Headlight Kit

Heres a kia sorento we did last month. This is before sanding, after sanding, and after polishing. Not too dramatic here, just average. 374,000 miles on this thing. Ran perfect, no lights, and ice cold AC. Unreal

    Replenish Headlight Kit

Nothing to prep the surface, just wash it off with car soap. I use the meguiars unigrit sanding discs. They make in all grits. I use 500 800 and 1500 with a Griots 3 inch polisher and the soft pad interface, spraying a small bit of water on them during (called damp sanding). Then wet sand by...

Restoring Older Painted Thin Body Moldings

Well done. We don't really fix much small stuff like that but when we have larger parts on old cars we will pull out some spray paint and do whatever we can to make it look fresh. Did this in about 5 minutes to a truck heading to the auction. And with a can of 97 cent spray paint from Walmart...

    Replenish Headlight Kit

Heres a set I did recently myself. Both lenses looked the same before, and the same after. 100% transformation. One of the most dramatic before and after results you'll ever see.

    Replenish Headlight Kit

Only time I can see buying a kit is if you have health problems that prevent you from doing much with uour hands, like maybe arthritis. Then you would need to let the drill do the work. But of course you could buy some unigrit discs and do dozens of headlights with out running out and still use...

Finally starting to realize, detailing isnt forever.

That is certainly the biggest downside to the car business. Its constant. 24/7 dealing with issues that relate to finding vehicles, coordinating the restoration process, and getting them sold and delivered. I can cut out a lot of the in between by doing most of the fixing myself which means no...
