What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Did a freebie detail for a neighbor. 1997 MB SL500 in Black Opal Metallic. She inherited from relative who passed away. Garage kept with 45k on the clock. She understands, and appreciates detail work. Since she is older I offered to scratch my detailing itch by cleaning it up for her. I wasn't...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It's that small black box at the top right of the picture. It's an Active VE51. Puts out 1650 PSI, but more important, generates ( supposedly) 1.8 GPM which was my priority. It was dirt cheap . The VE52 has better specs but has been sold out. I had my SunJoe 3000 hanging in that area but it...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Worked on my never-ending pursuit to make an efficient pressure washer station. Had a water source installed in the back of my garage and moved the pw, hose reel , DI tank over to it. Didn't have much time to tinker as I'm just an enthusiast. Ultimately, I want to mount plywood on the wall and...

Mike Phillips recommended foam pads for the FLEX Family of BEAST 8mm Gear-Driven Orbital Polishers

Hey Mike - thanks for the great info, as usual! Can you clear up a pad question for me? I was thinking the "URO-TEC" pads were designed for the long throw DA's, and the "URO-CELL's" were developed for forced rotation? Thoughts? thanks.

Great job Tom! You're getting great performance out of BF One Step. Was that the Rupes Yellow pad you used?

    1967 Camaro.

Cool project and I'm sure you'll do an awesome job on it! Based on your pic, I'm assuming you found the CBeast and BF One Step strong enough to knock it out? I'm hearing good things about that CBeast.

    Dr. Colorchip on Chevy Cruze

Thanks for the info. I've never done road rash touch up but now I think I'm ready. I like the squeegee idea. I'm assuming Dr Colorchip has complete kits, including the squeegee, for a small DIY job?

    Dr. Colorchip on Chevy Cruze

Very nice work! Do you use the "shoe polish" method for using Dr Colorchip to fill in the chipped paint? Meaning, you spread it out all over the surface and then wipe off? Your touch up came out well.

Looking for smaller barrel cleaning brush with long handle

Thanks for the input Coatingsarecrack. Regarding the Speedmasters, I have both but unfortunately the brush part is too wide of a diameter, even on the small one. As for the Gyeon brush, I have a knockoff of this as I thought it might work. It's pretty tight, but works better than anything else...

Looking for smaller barrel cleaning brush with long handle

Hope someone can help me source this. I've looked all over AG's website but can't find it. I need a wheel brush similar to the medium sized diameter wheel woolie brush, but with a longer handle. My wife's volvo has fairly wide factory rims, but the rotors are huge, which prevents larges barrel...

Replacement for a Meguiar's Versa Angle Wide Body Brush?

I have the SM Arnold brushes that 57Rambler mentioned. I have them in both green and salt and pepper. They are advertised as "body brushes", but I have not been brave enough to use them for that.... I use them for lightly cleaning leather seats, cleaning nice wheels that are painted, and also...

1968 Cadillac Original Paint Detailing Class - September 2020

Hey Mike - thanks for another world class write up. You bring such great value to this forum. Regarding the use of comet on old SS paint, is there a rule of thumb when you're not sure the old paint can handle it, or do you have to use a PTG to determine?
