Quick and easy tire detailing - Use water-based all-in-one rubber & vinyl cleaner/conditioners instead of tire dressings

Hey Mike -- just used some M40 I had laying around and used your method when I did a quick clean up on my DD this morning. Very good results and dramatically shortened the tire cleaning/dressing time process. Great tip. Thanks Mike! :)

    Griots G9 Not spinning

I thought I was just imagining this same symptom with my G9 but attributed it to not using it properly. I have noticed it has good power on an absolute flat surface but when it comes in contact with even a minor contour it stops rotating unless its on at least speed 5. This is with a 5.5"...

First time detailing your car? Watch this video - It shows everything you need to know and do

Mike - can you explain why this is? I thought the reason you can't expand much past a 2x2 section was due to the polish or compound drying out. thanks.

Foam Pad Options for the Griots G9 Polisher

Wow, Mike - that was an awesome response! One quick follow up question....Is the white Uro-Tec pad useful for something like Essence or Advanced Finishing Polish on a well maintained vehicle, or is it really just for wax application? Trying to mimic something like the Carpro Gloss pad. I...

Foam Pad Options for the Griots G9 Polisher

Mike- Thanks for that very informative post on pads for the G9. As usual, you go above and beyond to help us out. Please help me simplify and round out my polishing/finishing pad inventory. I recently purchased the G9. I also own the GG6 so I own a decent sized stash of thin pro's in orange...

    PFM towels with Bead Maker

That's great news! I'll try some of my other sealants I have. Thanks for the idea. That's sort of what I've been doing now but I've been using a leaf blower first. The PFM completely dries the car and then I've been using the Forrest Green towels with lower nap. Just trying to figure out a way...

    PFM towels with Bead Maker

Will do!. Would you say it's true for a lot of spray waxes/sealants such as OCW? In other words, what should I NOT use as drying aids with my PFM's?

    PFM towels with Bead Maker

Thanks BSoares - thanks for the response. I know it's not a long term sealant but I've enjoyed using it lately to make the paint pop. Thanks Rsurfer - glad to hear this from several people now. I usually throw them right in the washer with MF detergent in between uses. Thanks Bobby. That's how...

    PFM towels with Bead Maker

I did a search and couldn't find a definitive answer for my question. Will using my PFM to dry my car that has been sprayed with Bead Maker on a wet car load up the towel with product and ultimately make it less absorbent, even if it is washed properly? I have been first drying the car, then...

    Pre-soak for bug removal?

Try soaking a couple of soft bath towels in your wash solution and draping them over the front of your truck. Let the bugs soak a while as you set up or while washing the other part of your truck. This will greatly help to soften up the bugs so they wash off easier.

I’ve spent a ton of money on detailing products, but the best investment....

I have to agree. I got my tank about a year ago and it has been a game changer with our sun and heat in AZ. Often, if our cars have a week or two of just being real dusty and I have no time to wash them I will simply rinse them off with my Pressure Washer and DI water and then drive off. The...

    Griot's G9 observation...

Interesting you should mention that. Just got my G9 last weekend. I used Uro-fiber pads in both 5" and 6". I used the 6" first, then 5" and it sure seemed like the 6" did rotate better when up against a contoured area, but I decided it was just faulty perception due to not having enough run time...

New to detailing and excited to learn

Where are you located? Maybe someone on this forum that is close to you could get you started and show you the ropes. I would gladly do that if you lived in my area. The array of choices these days for detailing is mind numbing. What you need is a simple process to start out and then you can...

How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

Here's how I've done it. I haven't needed financing, but when I helped my son who did need financing here's how I approached it. 1. Tell them all you want to know is the "out the door price difference" between the car you want and the car you are trading. Keeps all the nonsense to minimum. I...
