What's a recommended DA backing plate?

Along these lines, what is the standard recommendation regarding backing plates and pad sizes? I've been wanting to purchase a PC 7424 for a while now. I recently got my car back for having some paint & body work done and am very close to pulling the trigger. That being said, I was looking...

    Ratio selection; foam gun

I can easily follow the 1:3 ratio (2oz soap:6oz water) mixture... and I see that the middle of the 5 holes is the setting for (4oz/gallon, or 1:32), but I have no idea how you get those to providing a 1oz/gallon (1:128) mixture... Nonetheless, I'll definitely try that middle notch and just...

    Ratio selection; foam gun

I picked up a foam gun last week (delivered yesterday) along with some of the DP Xtreme Foam shampoo. Having said that, the instructions show to mix 2oz. of the shampoo with 6-8oz of water in the reservior. Simple enough. However, there is no mention of what ratio setting to use on the foam...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

Allan, Thanks for sharing. That's quite an impressive job! I may try ordering some Scholl Rim 7 and some Iron-X to try out as well. I had seen recommendations for Iron-X prior to this post, but figured I would try the Wheel Brightener first. Based on your experience, these other products...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

I assume you are referring to using the Wheel Brightener, undiluted. My concern is damage to the face finish... Once I get my car back from the body shop, I may give it a shot on my existing wheels which are in similar condition. I'd much rather test on them first, before doing anything to...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

I did purchase the Wheel Brightener. I used it shortly after receiving it. I mixed a 4:1 ratio, applied the wheel brightener to about 1/2 of the barrel, agitated it for 30-45 seconds, then rinsed. It did improve the barrels, but they are still not as clean as I'd like them to be... Not sure...

    Cleaning/protecting rubber and plastics

I've read a lot of great information here and on the AutoGeek store site about general detailing. I think I've got a good grasp on handling wheels/tires, paint, and glass. That being said, I feel like I'm missing some info on cleaning and protecting rubber gaskets and plastic trim pieces on the...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

Thanks again for the input guys. I think I am going to be placing an order for some of the Meg's Wheel Brightener very shortly. I'll post back with my results. Another reason that I really don't want to have the wheels refinished is because the face of the wheels look good:

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

$$$ The last time I checked on refinishing (actually a friend did) it was going to be something like $125 or $150 a wheel

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

Thanks guys. My only concern with using an abrasive like steel wool is that the wheels are painted. I'm assuming that using something like wool would damage that?? No?

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

Unfortunately, these are the "new" rims :-\ I am going for a OEM look; it's an 2004 Acura RSX, and these are from a 2006. The styling of the wheels is completely different. I was able to get the wheels for $600 (including shipping). If I were to try and buy them new, they are $514 each (plus...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

If it makes any difference, I don't care about the part that's on the back of the spokes... you can't see that from the other side. I'm only trying to get the inner portion of the wheel... that can be seen from the other side when they are mounted on the car. EDIT: This is the part that I'm...

    Wheel cleaning - tough...

I've been buying products from AutoGeek for probably close to a year now. I've had a great experience with everything I've got to date. That said, I joined the forum here yesterday... I'm looking for a recommendation and need a bit of help... I bought some used wheels for my car a few months...
