    Wool pad care & cleaning

What is the recommended cleaning for rotary wool pads? I use XMT or Snappy for the foam pads, rinse & dry face down. I know about spurring a wool pad, but should they also be washed the same way as foam?

    camaro detailing...

I agree with those who encourage you to read through the forum. You'll see pics and tips of how experienced detailers have dealt with multiple paint related problems. If you are still thinking of detailing beyond a basic "wash and wax", you'll probably find that Autozone, Pepboys and the...

    Steamers

Here's a before & after of an 07 Avalon using the steamer. I sprayed the steering wheel with DP Total interior cleaner. Then wrapped a MF around the head of the steamer wand and wiped it off while steaming. The skin oil and dirt come right off. Then followed the cleaning with a leather...

    Wet-sanding with a pneum DA...wow!

Sorry for not posting the links. Thanks to A4 1.8tqm who posted the YouTube link for the Meguiar's series. The other source was Kevin Tetz's "Color Sanding & Buffing" which is part of the Paintucation DVD series. He uses the DA on a repainted car and he stresses the importance of having an...

    Wet-sanding with a pneum DA...wow!

I saw a 5-part Meguiar's video series (on YouTube) about wetsanding and buffing with a rotary. The last video (part 5) demo's wetsanding with a pneumatic DA palm sander. Seems like a very effective way to achieve uniform results. I also watched Kevin Tetz (Paintucation) use it to make clear...

    Steamers

I've been using a steamer I got on ebay for $100 new. It's called SteamFast kitchen and bathroom steamer. It holds 48 ounces of water and will easily do an entire vehicle interior. I don't detail for a living, just a serious hobby...I'm very happy with it. It's great for leather, vinyl and...

Thanks for the advice. How do you like the Flex rotary?

    Meguiar's Flat vs. LC pads

Oh man, NOT ANOTHER PAD QUESTION!! I've used only LC pads for both the Flex DA and the PC 7424 and have had great results, esp with Menzerna products. I'd like to use the 9227 for more than headlight restoration and small areas of paint correction. So far I have only used LC 3" pads with...

Lexus ES300 - Holy Oxidation and Gunk Batman!

My opinion (a novice detailer) is go with Menzerna. I've had some amazing results with a Flex and SIP on really neglected vehicles like the one you just tackled. I like 105/205 best with a rotary, esp with headlight restoration or spot repairs. Nice job on the Lexus, BTW!!!! Cars like...

    Miracle in a bottle

They way I used the 303 was to spray the seats with a fairly heavy amount and then work it in with a nylon brush. I let it dwell about 15 minutes. Initially I tried to use a hot water extractor to remove the residue, but actually just using the vacuum alone worked best. (Maybe the hot water...

    Headlight restore with Megs 105 & 205

It was only my second time working with headlights, so I started out with 1500. Learned quick that 800 is the better way with cloudy lenses. Once the lens was smooth with using 800, maybe 1-2 minutes with the other grits and the same with each polish. It probably took 30 to 40 minutes per...

    Miracle in a bottle

I recently detailed a 2003 Toyota Highlander. The owner was almost too embarrassed to leave the car, saying it was "too dirty". She has two small children and a dog.... I used 303 Cleaner & Spot Remover on the tan cloth seats....and the results were amazing. I mean AMAZING!!!! Here's the...

    Hello from Illinois

Hi everyone, I've been detailing as a hobby for almost 20 years. I agree that the hobby has become an addiction, but I have no plans for attending any DA (detailers annoymous) meetings. My habit is fed by family and friends....I don't charge for any work I do. Once my hobby becomes a job...
