    A Chicagoland get together?

Yea I am just going to have to talk with the owners but I'm sure they'll be fine with it. I basically lease 200-300 sf in a 13,000sf shop, so as you can imagine I'll have to discuss it with the shop guys and figure out what can be done. Besides that, I'm more than happy to offer up the space...

    A Chicagoland get together?

I will post as soon as I talk to the guys at the shop (sometime this week) and we can start planning for a date, etc.

    A Chicagoland get together?

Yea I think we should actually plan to do it even after summer or late August if the weather starts looking bearable. Yesterday was indeed a great day for detailing with no humidity and mid 70s or so. That would surely be perfect with 20 guys packed (well not so packed as the shop area we're...

    A Chicagoland get together?

Guys, I spoke with Connor about this via email, so as he said I'm going to try and see if/when I can make the shop available and we can organize something. I sublease a space at a performance shop in Hoffman Estates so I will simply need to speak with the guys at the shop and see what we can...

New 4" and 6" Backing Plates for Flex 3401

This is great news... now only thing that's missing is a properly sized backing plate for 5.5" pads!

    Pad Reccomendations?

10 different people will give you 8 different answers... just pick one to order and try it... I would recommend the low profile 5.5" lake country css as they do a good job with swirl removal on the PC, won't bog it down as much as regular sized pads do and are a fairly good price...

    Detailing process & techniques...

Glad you guys find it useful... I haven't been on much lately due to mon-fri work but finally started finding time to get back on the forums as well as do some detailing... Mercedes C63 coming up this weekend, can't wait to see the car in person!

    Detailing process & techniques...

Polishing Polishing is the most important part of a detail. You can clay a car then wax it, or you can just wax it, and it will look better and feel better than what you started with, but it isn’t until you’ve properly polished the paint (usually only possible by machine) that the real gloss...

    Detailing process & techniques...

Claying To determine if you need to clay a car, you should wash the car, dry it, then feel for any contamination stuck in the paint which cannot be removed with washing, or even polishing sometimes. To do this, place your hand inside a Ziploc bag, and run it over the paint… you can also do it...

    Detailing process & techniques...

I posted this on a couple other forums already and people found it informative, so hopefully it helps out someone here as well... Everything I post is something I’ve done, usually something I keep doing as it works, so please don’t take it to heart if it differs from your process and, as...

KSG is my favorite product... longest lasting sealant I've tried (got 3-4 months through Chicago winter with 3 layers) and AIO is another great product. I use KSG pretty much every detail and KAIO when necessary. Definitely should be in your collection. I have posted this numerous times on 10...

In what order do you clean the interior?

Start with the hardest, messiest, dirtiest area to clean. Do glass last.

Another case of "you get what you pay for"...

I didn't increase the price even though I estimated the job at ~7hours due to the fact that I had Thurs-Sun to work on it... so the 9 hours didn't seem like the 9 hours you pull off in one day haha. He's picking it up today actually due to today being the first somewhat nice day after a few...

Another case of "you get what you pay for"...

Another Porsche for me and another bad case of a previous detailing job, but even worse than the last one I corrected. Finish looked and felt like they used #85 and wool for hours, maybe even steel wool. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to 100% as I didn't want to polish too much, not knowing...

    Clear Coat Toughness

+111... I hope this thread goes much further than my attempt at the same issue on autopia... I'll definitely be posting here every time I do a different car D&D, may I just suggest you make an Excel file which you can update and repost every week or so, or as 5-10 new results come in... I'll do...

is it okay to use the nano polish on any finish?

before I unsubscribe... here's something you might consider... it's what actual detailers that deal with cars daily think, not what some website says about clear coats.... http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-university/6553-clear-coat-toughness.html
