Shocked by how fast rotors rust!

Okay, perhaps only a newbie would be surprised by this. But it was a bit jarring to me when I went to clean the wheels and saw the rotors rusting before my eyes in literally seconds! Unwashed wheel Seconds after water touching wheel Washed and dried wheel

I learned you need to be careful cleaning the wheel wells.

So, I was cleaning the wheels of the 2014 Honda Accord for the first time with a micro-chenille wash mitt. I decided to wash the dirt layer on the wheel wells and before I knew it, the black coating was coming off! I then took my bare fingers and gently grazed the surface. The black coating...

Is it possible to polish out these scratches in the chrome trim?

Well this my girl's car and she says she doesn't want to hassle with the dealer and wonders if they might scratch something else in the process of replacing it. On a related note, I suppose the scratches on the black trim that run along the top of the car can't be polished out either...?

Are 4" pads necessary or just nice to have?

Thanks for the responses! Which backing plate and pad collection do you recommend?

Are 4" pads necessary or just nice to have?

Newbie here. I haven't done anything to the car yet. I ordered and received a set of 5.5" CCS pads with a 5" backing plate. Do I need to buy 4" pads to tackle the smaller parts like the A-pillars or can I get away with adequately taping up the trim and use the 5.5" pads for the entire car?

How To use Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads on Flex 3401

I'm about to decontaminate a new car for the first time. This is all new to me. I can't find any swirls on the paint. If the autoscrub pad leaves marring, should I use M205 with a white pad to polish it out before applying a sealant with a red pad? Or should I use a softer pad? I have LC CCS...

    Huge time saver!!!

What made you want to sell it? And can the GG6 handle 6.5" pads? Or are 5.5" pads really better suited for it?

Is it possible to polish out these scratches in the chrome trim?

If I had known better, I would have said something about this before the sale and taking delivery of the car. But I found the part online, so at least I know it is replaceable if it bugs me too much. MOLDING for 2014 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN

Is it possible to polish out these scratches in the chrome trim?

That's a bummer. The way the scratches reflect in the light, they are pretty noticeable when you go to open the passenger door. It came this way from the dealership. Only 7 miles on the car. Someone must have scratched it with a ring or keys? You would think this material would be made a little...

    Best Glass Coating

Have you found that these sealants are roughly equivalent in performance and durability? I am also curious if glass sealants are truly unique products or paint sealants in different labeled bottles.

Did I make a mistake buying the PC 7424XP?

Nice! You, Mike, and many of the forum members here are a special breed who value high quality work and attention to detail. I love it too and already feel at home here. I can relate to having a hard time trusting the local shops. I know if I want a task done with TLC, I should do it myself. But...

Is this degree of orange peel typical for a new car?

Haha Bob. It is readily visible standing next to the car, but it's not a deal breaker as the white paint doesn't show reflections very well anyway.

Is it possible to polish out these scratches in the chrome trim?

The scratches are on a chrome strip that goes along the top edge of the passenger door. I believe it is made of metal. You can see a pic of it in the link below. I would like to remove them if possible, but I don't know what tool and product I can use. On a related note, how can I protect the...

Is this degree of orange peel typical for a new car?

LOL, I doubt she has even noticed it. I am certainly not going to bring it up to her! But yeah, I just wanted to help her car look its best. I haven't done anything with it...yet. ;) I'm a newbie, but I'm guessing sealants and coatings don't mask orange peel.

Is this degree of orange peel typical for a new car?

My girlfriend just bought a new car, a white 2014 Honda Accord. I am learning how to detail for the first time and would like to help her protect the finish with a paint sealant, topped with a wax. But I notice that the clear coat does not quite have a mirror-like finish. Instead, it is rather...

Did I make a mistake buying the PC 7424XP?

Thanks Mark! Your advice is invaluable and very much appreciated. Are 4" pads also essential? Or can I get away 5.5" pads overlapping onto tape? And by pink, you mean red, correct? I don't see a pink pad in the selection.

Did I make a mistake buying the PC 7424XP?

Thanks for all of the input guys. I realize I won't know how well I will like the PC until I actually try it out. But your insights are greatly appreciated. I dove into the detailing world just a tad over a week ago, so my head is still spinning with every article, forum post, and video I can...

I'm a newbie who is wants to get into detailing because my girlfriend just bought a new car and I would like to do what I can to protect and maintain it's new finish while also putting an end to neglecting the paint on my own vehicle. I bought the Porter Cable 7424XP for a $100 based on the...
