need help with a polished lip

The polished lip isn't clear coated, is it? I have run across many wheels with polished pieces and cleared. Using a metal polish on that will mess up the clear bad enough to really make them look bad. Todd

    A few Poorboys questions.

Definately try the SSR1 first and see if it is enough to remove the swirls. If not, you may want to get some SSR #2.5 and go after them again. I find that to be the best of the Poorboys line for removing light marks with the PC. I'm not familiar with EX-P, so I'll leave that to those with...

    Must need tougher compound?

Heavy scratches are generally too much for a PC. The PC is generally good at 'rounding' off the edges to reduce the appearance of scratches and minor swirl marks and such can be removed. If your scratches aren't through the clear, then you will need some additional assistance from a rotary...

    Wool pads for rotary buffers?

I am pretty sure that both of those are more in line with random orbitals or dual action buffers. Typically, the rotary buffers use a 8" or larger pad. Todd

    Wool pads for rotary buffers?

Can I order wool pads from Autogeek for my rotary buffer? I see that both Lake Country and Edge make wool pads, but Autogeek doesn't list them on the web site that I have found. Please point me to the missing product area or let me know if AG will sell the wool pads. Todd

    Wool pad/bonnet on the PC?

I am going to do some work that will require removal of 2000 grit sanding marks and I need a wool cutting pad. I am probably going to have to hit up my local 3M supply house for a wool pad, but I wanted to ask about the wool pad/bonnet AG sells. Has anyone used it alone to try and remove severe...

    Chewing Gum Removal

WD-40 is also very good at removing such things, tar and gum, but not sure how it reacts with paint. I have used it before, but immediately re-washed the area I used the WD40 on. Todd

    "Window Wax"

Are you looking for something to 'wax' the glass? I use Rain-X on my vehicles during particular times of the year. It really lets the rain run off the window quick and bugs don't stick nearly as well than without Rain-X. Todd

Walk the Walk ... Versus Just Talking the Talk

I have seen several posts now with UPP listed and the reflection are very nice. There is a comment in this thread about UPP producing incredible reflections. With that said, is it a sealant that is better at actually protecting the paint than say the Wolfgang sealant? I supposed that is a...

    Swirl removers; polishes

I have PB 2.5 and the entire XMT line. The XMT line seems to work a tad nicer on the PC, but I really like the PB's 2.5 on an orange pad with my rotary....PB's 3 is actually not up to the standards of the rest of the PB's line. I have found very little working time with it(rotary, not PC use)...

    Polish for new "hard" clearcoats???

I am reading a lot about the new super hard, scratch resistant clear coats that are starting to make their way onto vehicles. Apparently, MB switched to these with 2005 models and I read an article that states the clear coat is now being supplied to various domestic auto plants as well. There...

aggressive cut pad/light compound or medium cut pad/heavy compound?

Which do you guys prefer for compounding out deeper marks? I currently do a medium cut pad and a heavier cut compound to remove the real hard stuff, but I wonder if it would be better to use a heavier cut pad and lighter compound. Will the newer 'diminishing abrasive' compounds allow you to...

    First impressions PC and pads

I agree that the PC is a great tool, but I am currently able to use my rotary well enough that I can produce what takes several mintues with the PC in just a minute or less with the rotary. I also ordered the Edge 2K pads for my rotary and I am really looking forward to seeing how those pads do...

    New products - Menzerna

I want to add my request for the Menzerna compounds/polishes as well. I just met and discussed buffing with a local guy that does some great work. He uses Menzerna products and watching him work a couple panels really showed the product. Good working time and a compound (it was the Intensive...

    Edge 2K quick change/dbl sided pad ?'s

I'll have the 8" Edge pads here on Monday according to the shipping info AG sent. I ordered the 8" edge kit and also decided to order the aggressive/heavy cutting black foam edge pad as well. I'll give them a shot on some work that I need to do including one vehicle that needs to get some...

    Detailed: 2005 Lexus LS430

Looks very nice. I, personally, find light colored vehicles to be hard. You can really tell with dark or bright colored vehicles when you have the paint lookin great, but it isn't so obvious with light colors. NXT is okay, you'll be happy when you run out and switch, though. Todd

    Edge 2K quick change/dbl sided pad ?'s

Thanks guys. I am probably going to try the circular buffer pads first, since I was getting ready to put forward an order of pads for it. I only have a few pads for the PC right now, so I will most likely order the PC kit in a few weeks as I get my business rolling. Todd

Talk is talk and results are, well, FACTS!!!

Oh man:mad: Those things piss me off!!! Around here, you never know when sprinklers are going off(no watering between 10am and 6pm, but nobody seems to care) and parking anywhere near a grass island or a landscaped island in the parking lots could be a days worth of detailing.....Even the...
