That makes no sense? If I clean and prep correctly, apply SF correctly and it supposedly penetrates into the plastic then covered with a coating. Shouldn't the coating be the first thing to go away/wear out before another application of SF is needed? Just asking / thinking out loud again.

I couldn't agree with you any more. I think a lot of products (and not just the car care industry) come from one manufacture and are simply just relabeled.

What about the Poorboy's version? I used it this past weekend and it seemed to do the job also.

Try Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover (it's $5/quart at Walmart or Amazon and i bet similar to the Wolfgang product mentioned above), I just used it before putting down a coating. Cleaned up the paint nicely. The other thing you can do is simply repolish the paint that will removed it also.
