    Basic detailing question

No question is ever "silly". How do you learn, without asking? Anyways, I usually tape of most areas, and touch up with a small boars hair brush and QD.

    Advice needed!

You can say the product names.. it's an open forum.. Those swirls/scratches you saw after compounding was left because the polish wasn't broken down all the way, and the abrasives in the compound lightly scratched up the paint. This is common amongst new users. The compound needed to be worked...

Did you work on the paint? Looks beautiful Ed!! :applause:

    Most Abrassive for Random Orbital

You "dry buff" which you don't want to do either. When polishing it takes trial and error to find the exact "point" in which everything clicks. Your product amount should be about the size of a dime/quarter x2. Although Menzerna polishes finish down very nicely, and by far the best I've used...

    Most Abrassive for Random Orbital

Do you over-use the product? Your pad should look like this.. I've never had any of the problems you've come across with #83.

    2005 Subaru Impreza WRX

Titanium, NB, or #21 (two layers would look nice.) If you have the time, #21 x2 NB x 1 Zymol x1 All can be done in the same day, no curing time. Apply and wipe. The result would be....WOW! #21 is some good stuff, and no curing time makes it THAT much better..

    Most Abrassive for Random Orbital

Maybe more than a little. XMT #4 and PB's SSR3 feel like " 'liquid' sandpaper".. not a good feeling.. Ton's that are equal to #83, but I will classify those that AG sells. PB's #2.5 XMT #3 DP's SSR (no longer available on website, although might still have some left)

    Optimum Opti-Seal

Can you apply a carnuba ontop of opti-seal? Any curing time between coats?

    Most Abrassive for Random Orbital

Very nice. I would only recommend using #4 in some of the extreme cases, as it's AG's MOST abrasive polish/compound out there.. I would much rather use #3 twice, than #4 once.

    Most Abrassive for Random Orbital

I will second that too. I really have found a love for Menzerna polishes..
