    Hard Water

:iagree: Thank you all for your advice! I would love to get a filtration system, but that'll take some time. I currently employ a leaf blower to dry the car (on of the best tips I ever picked up on the forum), but on warmer days, I'm just not quick enough to get the whole car done in time...

    Hard Water

Hello All – it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted, but I’ve recently acquired a new Tahoe (black), and this new acquisition has posed new obstacles in my detailing regime. Until now, I haven’t owned a black vehicle, and the challenges associated are bringing me back for the expert advice...

    Lets see everyone!

Ok, it's been a while since I've posted, but I figured I could jump in on this one. FYI for the younger members, a hot girlfriend can become a wife before you know what hit you.

    which sealants do you like

:iagree: I'm getting about 6 - 8 weeks out of WGDPS 3.0. I don't know what the "norm" is, but I'm happy with the results.

    No front licence Plate...

If it's a state law, stop by a Corvette Dealership and see how much they would charge to install one. They also have some low profile options that you can scope out, and research later for a lower price. I know you don't want to put a plate on, but at least NH's plates say "Live Free or Die"...

    Glaze with Sealant

Thank you all for your input. As hot as it is, I'll admit I'm looking for shortcuts. I was thinking about polishing with 106ff and a white pad, a glaze, then WGDPS. I figured this would eliminate the need to go back over my car a second time with the 106ff and a Gray pad. Oh, and my wife's...

    What speeds are you using

For correction, I spread polish on speed 1, and increase to 6 once distributed. If its hot in my garage, I'll either decrease my work area to 1 ft X 1 ft, or only increase the speed to 5 or 4 (ok, only 4 once). I decrease the speed because I've found I get less dusting with 106ff. When...

    Glaze with Sealant

I've been considering a glaze the next time I polish my car, more specifically Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark Vehicles. I also have Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0, and was wondering how a glaze would affect the paint sealant's durability. As I understand, the glaze goes on...

    My first Show-n-Shine!!!

I thought that was a scratch down the side, but it's the reflection from other cars in the background. I am jealous! VERY nice work!!! :righton:

    Newbie OTC Products-Holly Springs, NC

mikespine - Welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place to learn about detailing. There is quite a bit of experience and knowledge in these threads, and I learn something new every day. I would use the sandwich bag test. After washing, put your hand in a sandwich bag, and run it...

spray on wax vs quick detail

12v – After washing my car, I’ve started using a qd (such as Crystal Mist) during the drying stage, more or less as a lubricant. My understanding is that the qd will help reduce the number of webs introduced, as well as giving the car a nice shine. Now I’ll only use a qd when drying when I...

    Cleaning exhaust tips

:whs: I went over mine with an old piece of clay, and Mothers Original PowerBall Polishing Tool with chrome polish Now I spent a good part of the afternoon on two exhaust tips, but the results were well worth it. I'm sure I could have achieved the results with some of the products mentioned by...

    Broken down polish

I too was using Megs 3 step Deep Crystal System up to when I purchased the Flex 3401. IMHO, step 2 (the polish) doesn't remove paint defects that well. I was polishing a 2 X 2 area with the Flex until the polish broke down. The resulting sheen was very nice (and deep), but I couldn't tell...
