Well luckily it is just for my father so if I can't coat them there is no harm done. So Michelin don't take the coating very well? Interesting as it seems like they take "normal" tire dressings better than most tires. Thanks for the info/input guys!

That's what I was afraid of. I am using the Black Pearl coating, but I think they all contain a black dye. It is for my father's truck and not a true paying customers so I may try to carefully apply it and see what happens.
