Glass Polishing - demand? What do you charge?

So I bought some Ceriglass compound and some Rayon pads to work on some light scratches on my truck. Of course I plan on perfecting this technique first BEFORE using it on a customers car, but I was thinking about adding it to my detailing services. Do you guys see much of a demand for glass...

    Microfiber Towels

Ok maybe I shouldn't have used the word "Pro", but I consider a lot of you guys "pros" who have much more experience then I do. Microfiber Tech seems to have some very good towels so glad to hear that they are very comparable to The Rag Company's even though they are considerably cheaper...

    Microfiber Towels

In our line of work microfiber towels are one of the most used (I would venture to say that every single one of us use them) and important tools that we have when you think about it. I bought a few packs from Costco last year, but as I get more into paint correction and paint coatings, I realize...

"Wash and wax" ....to machine wax or aerosol?

The Optimum Car wax seems like a great candidate! A spray wax that can be machine applied and seems to have good filling ability. All while not breaking the bank at a gallon for $50. So do you guys think the Pinnacle XMT and Optimum Poli-Seal may be a little much for a fairly quick...

"Wash and wax" ....to machine wax or aerosol?

I agree with you about the durability/longevity not being the feature of my quick wash and wax package, but that is why I ask about fillers. Most customers will notice if their paint looks "shinier" and glossy. That is why I am looking for a quick, easy to apply wax/sealant that has great...

"Wash and wax" ....to machine wax or aerosol?

Thanks Zach! :xyxthumbs: Quick question on Sonax Polymer Net Shield, does it have any fillers or gloss enhancing capabilities? I have used CarPro Hydro O2, but wasn't impressed with it's longevity.

"Wash and wax" ....to machine wax or aerosol?

This year I am going to be offering a "wash and wax" service to gain more customers with a quick detail that I can do in 4-6 hours. I am starting the price at $100 for SUVs/large trucks and $85 for cars/small trucks. Maybe a tad high, but I have found out the hard way that it is much easier to...

Budget extractor - water not hot

So I recently picked up a Durrmaid BASIC 1500 Hot water extractor (Chemical Guys EQP_1500W - Extractor Durrmaid Basic 1500 Hot Water Extractor & Vacuum with Tools) gently used. The guy I bought it from said he used it only a few times and it showed as it still looked almost new. Upon...

Wax an entire car w/ a single red pad?

What wax/sealants are applied like this (apply to whole car, let cure/haze, then remove/wipe off)? I have been looking for these products because it seems like a quicker method. Especially with a microfiber bonnet on say a Porter Cable to remove the excess once the sealant/wax has cured.

    Best prodcuts for gelcoat boats

Glad to hear someone has had good results using a Flex 3401. A buddy of mine wants me to detail and do some polishing on the gel coat of his boat. I was worried that my Flex wouldn't be able to cut it because I ALWAYS hear of only rotary buffers being used on gel coat boats. I couldn't see...

    Buffer/polisher STORAGE

This may be an odd question, but I store my Flex 3401 laying on top of a cabinet. It's not the handiest place. I also have a large rotary buffer that I store in a cabinet and a small pneumatic polisher that I store in a drawer. At Christmas I added a Porter Cable to my arsenal (mainly as a...

Perfecting my drying technique...leaf blower and ONR ?s

Thanks guys for all the replies! The Metro Side Kick looks really nice, but it still has a cord and I trying to have one less cord to deal with. After all, the drying phase has to go pretty quick to avoid water spots (the whole reason I am looking into a blower or new technique) so I don't want...

Perfecting my drying technique...leaf blower and ONR ?s

So if I was to get an electric leaf blower to dry vehicles these are the 3 I have narrowed it down to: 1) Kobalt Shop Kobalt 40-Volt Max 250-CFM 140-MPH Light-Duty Cordless Electric Leaf Blower at Lowes.com Has pretty good power for a battery powered unit (I don't want to deal with cords or...

Perfecting my drying technique...leaf blower and ONR ?s

I appreciate all your helpful info. It definitely seems like a great tool and I would purchase it over the cheaper Makita electric leaf blower if my main concern was something small and light (if even moves more air then the Makita). Currently when I detail engine bays I use my small and LOUD...

Perfecting my drying technique...leaf blower and ONR ?s

The problem is that this purchase is mainly for customers cars which are often not maintained. So there usually isn't any wax/sealant left to help with the drying process. Your right Conman, Home Depot has a great deal on that Makita. I love how light and small it is, but it does worry me that...

Perfecting my drying technique...leaf blower and ONR ?s

My first year of detailing as a side job is almost over and I decided that I want to give my drying technique some attention. I realize during the drying process is where a LOT of scratches come from. So I want a safe method, but also quick as I tend to have problems with water spots (I try to...

07 Honda CRV - NBP - major correction - Pinnacle Auto Detail - CT

Great work! The 50/50 shots on the paint are impressive. I still don't know how all you guys talk your clients into a 2-step correction. Maybe it helps that the owner was a former detailer, but I have a hard enough time convincing my customers the benefits of a 1 step correction! Not...

    Reccomend me something better

I'm a big fan of DP Poli-Coat. Super easy to apply. M21 seems like a great product and as usual very affordable from Meguiar's. I have also heard nothing but good things from Optimum Poly seal and Menzerna Power Lock (both companies make such high quality products that I would take a chance...
