How to best use deionized water?

The dealership I worked at we used it for entire wash process. I have a DI unit (different brand) and I use it the entire wash process. Gentle stream of water for the final rinse from a garden hose to get rid of 80% of water. Forced air dry the large water droplets left. Let the rest...

The Car From Hell! 2014 Subaru Forester nightmare! Sticky Paint

I didn't believe BF One step would do what people said it would until I tried it in the 3 day class. I now keep some in my arsenal. Doing half a forester sized hood with a 3401 would be normal but on this car the area is too large. To align with the lower reside from application by hand...

The Car From Hell! 2014 Subaru Forester nightmare! Sticky Paint

I had a similar situation on a repaint car with single stage black paint. Micro Marring to a haze and the residue was glued to the surface when using a Porter Cable. Switched to Sonax EX 04-06 with lots of product on the pad, 15mm orbit Flex cordless free spin polisher, smaller working...

Winter Maintenance and Washing with Hot Water

Hot water on a cold windshield can break it. Melting snow off a windshield with hot water is a no-no. Extreme, rapid changes to temperature on glass is not a good thing. I would limit the water temp to warm enough so my hand's didn't freeze.

Thanks for signing it Mike! I had to leave to catch a plane and didn't have time to get the books signed. Having the tool signed is a nice substitution. :)

Pictures - September 2019 3-Day Car Detailing Bootcamp Class

Since I returned from the class a lot of people have asked me about XZY buffer, pads, polish, etc and what should they get or how to use it. After trying so many tools I have to reply it’s a personal preference. Great opportunity of the class is hands on with many polishers. I went in...

What the heck did the dealer spray on my car

Foaming glass cleaner for lubrication and use a razor blade held as parallel to the window as your fingers will allow. Stainless steel blades are less likely to scratch the window than carbon steel. Window fixed in less then 10 minutes. I worked at a car dealer with an onsite body shop. Body...

    Black Label Diamond Coating Shampoo

I'm not getting lasting suds with Black Label Diamond Shampoo. I'm using 6 pumps per 5 gallons of water. Water is de-ionized, should I not be using de-ionized water? I can make suds by spraying the water into the bucket as the directions state. When I pull the wash mit out of the wash bucket...

1954 Buick Special - Coating Training Car for September Class

Glad I signed up for September. Two items I really struggle with are headliners and HVAC vents. Will we get some time with those items? The hands on with the polishers is really appealing. I almost purchased some Rupes products but held off until after the class. Maybe I decide FLEX is...
