Just a side thought: I noticed when using a trim sealant, after it rains, streaks from the sealant formula can be found on glass and on paint. Maybe you did this to your cowel? I usually dont do the plastic trim because it never has looked good.... It's also all over the windshield and cowl...

On the windshield (top) the half moon of smeer never goes away no matter what. The bottom is the hood where the water normally runs down after wash. Not sure if my solvent is staining it or a chemical reaction with the rain x from the windshield. Still have winter fluid in the resevoir.
