    Coating Recommendation

That's exactly what I did when I used SF3500 on my car. I did an IPA wipe down after each section to assure I got out the defects. That was after each section. After each panel, I wiped down the whole panel with Carpro eraser. Car still looked flawless. I Did the whole car this way and the car...

    Coating Recommendation

I'm thinking about going with a coating, but want more information than I can find through a search before I choose which one I go with. I've used Cquartz UK before and while I do like it's appearance and slight resistance to wash induced marring, I'm not particularly impressed with it's...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

I wiped it quite extensively. Is there a particular soap you would recommend to wash the car with between the polishing step and the LSP? Just to assist in removing the polishing oils? It must have been because I had pretty good lighting. I didn't see anything other than a mirror like...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

For a coating I understand. In this case, I didn't use a coating. I used 845. What would I do in this particular case? I just want to see the true results, are the Menzerna products just not good for that?

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

What can I do to absolutely ensure that I have removed any and all polishing oils and what I'm seeing is the naked paint? If the defects were really hidden by the polish somehow, that would mean it stood up to an IPA wipe down and CarPro eraser. What else could I do? Wash the car 5 times with...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

Yes, black is an unbelievable pain to maintain. The G8 is a Holden Commodore as well, same model to. Just an older one. I had a G8 GT. I loved that car. So what is the verdict you are all leaning towards, Menzerna SF3500 has fillers that just hid the scratches temporarily and it really did no...

Thanks for the link. I'll give this a try also.

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

I'll give that a shot, sure. Yeah I don't blame you. I'd buy M101 if I need a Meguiars compound from now on. Next time out, I'll just do several IPA/eraser wipe downs after each panel to make sure there's nothing filling in any scratches.

That's what I was taught. The least aggressive method that works.

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

I was gonna go with Cquartz. I have experience with that coating already. Anything you recommend over Cquartz? Would I be able to use FG400 and follow that with 205 to prep for a coating? FG400 is just so much nicer to work with than 105. If the conditions aren't exactly perfect with 105, it...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

M105. Works well, but my God is it touchy. That's what I did. It had very light marring and light surface scratches. Same thing now, light marring and some hazing. I have FG400. What micro cutting pad do you recommend? Meguiars? Thank you!

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

So basically, the Menzerna stuff does have fillers in it. For coating prep, I'd probably use M205. I sealed this one with Collinite 845

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

That's what's confusing me. I have carpro eraser and used it. After the first wash, it was fine as well. I have correction lights as well. Maybe I should have used FG400 first. I did a test spot with SF3500 and it looked great when I did it. I took my time, doing one panel at a time, each panel...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

I used a white Lake Country hybrid pad. I thought the Menzerna SF3500 doesn't have any fillers in it. It says right on the bottle that it contains no fillers. Regardless, I still did an IPA wipe down followed by Carpro eraser. I did just get my car back from getting headers installed. Unless...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

Usually it is the drying phase, which is what blows my mind. I dried the whole car both times I washed it, without ANY physical contact. All done with a blower. What is the hardest coating available? If it preserves my hard work somewhat, than I agree with you, it's worth it. Lately GM paint...

2016 Chevrolet SS Phantom Black Metallic Paint

Does anybody have any experience with the paint on a Phantom Black Metallic Chevrolet SS? Is it as evil as I'm thinking it is? I spent 14 hours 2 weeks ago polishing my car with Menzerna SF3500 and got the paint perfect. I used an IPA AND Carpro eraser after using the polish so I saw the naked...

    AIO Protection Ability

Good point. Besides from the protection aspect of an AIO, what do the AIO's do that a polish like 205, can't? Is there any additional benefits of an AIO over a polish besides protection? Do the AIOs have any additional cut?

    AIO Protection Ability

They both look like fantastic products. I guess you can go wrong with either. That exactly what I'd be doing, topping the AIO with 845. I'm guessing you can top either product with 845, but with the Mckees, you probably don't have to with the amount of protection it provides.

    AIO Protection Ability

Thanks for the replys. I don't mind additing a layer of 845, that's easy. I was just wondering if you could apply it on top of the protection that HD speed puts on the car without issue. As far as the Mckees goes, how does it compare to HD speed as far as correction and gloss? The protection...

    AIO Protection Ability

I'm looking into getting some HD Speed AIO to do my family and friends cars that don't need a multi-step paint correction. I know this stuff removes light imperfections and protects all in one step. I'm just wondering, how good is the protection it leaves behind? How long does it last? And if I...
