    how long and how much

Really I don't know of anyone who does much if any "mobile detailing" in the winter or when it is raining. I'm primarily a student and engineering intern so the detailing thing is an 'on the side' perk to make a little money doing something else I love to do. At school its typically on the...

Infamous M105/M205 combo; why do I need M105?

But time is money :) Especially for those charging by the job. My car uses a very hard clearcoat after I repainted it. There is no way that I could get by simply with 205 for sanding out sanding scratches. It actually took 105 with a wool pad to remove 2000 grit sanding scratches. No way in...

    Show and Shine Winners!

Awesome! I'm really surprised to see the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Victory shirt, but that is a MUCH WIN from an F1 fan in my book :) Go autogeek! I wonder if McLaren would let Mike detail the MP4-25 :P

What would you use for this color?

:iagree: Souveran is nicer on darker colors, but SSII really makes flakes pop :)

    Dodo Juice and other questions...

Yeah, a lot of it depends on how big a vehicle is. I tried some of a friends' rainforest rub out on the integra (green wax green car...it was a calling :) ) and you really couldn't tell that any was used from the container.

    how long and how much

My best advice is to start out with friends/family members' vehicles. Detailing takes different people different amounts of time. Start out with the vehicles of people you know for essentially tips only and start timing yourself on how long it takes to do each. The big thing is that when you...

    Dodo Juice and other questions...

Dodo juice goes an amazingly long way, especially when using it very thin as just a topper. You should be able to wax your car 4-5 times with one I imagine.

How did you organize your supplies?

The dual halogens are nice, but when I'm working in doors, I really like to wear an LED head light used for camping similar to the old miners lights. Most have multiple LED's and really make the swirls pop right in front of your face :)

My attempt at polishing a 97 VW Jetta

I think the big difference with that approach is that the pad is nice and saturated! I use a rotary vs a PC, but i'll have to give a similar method a try with it! Thanks M

My attempt at polishing a 97 VW Jetta

Car looks great, grids look great! I just recently buffed my dad's '98 Golf...I actually took care of all of the swirls with 205 which caught me off guard :) Care to elaborate on the Kevin Brown method of compounding with 105?

    Question about claying

I clay and wipe the residue off, then go back over with an ONR QD wipedown to make sure I have all of the residue off and have a good surface to apply whatever my first stage of protection is (KAIO generally)

    Question about claying

My favorite so far has been the blue mild clay from meguiars. Not super sticky, easy to work with, and lasts forever.

1996 Honda Accord (Red) / Poorboy's Liquid Natty's Blue review

Awesome job! Going to have to give D151 a try :) I've got a friend with a milano red honda who has fallen to the milano pink disease :( 151 should nip it quick!

How did you organize your supplies?

Oh, one more thing...drying them use just an air fluff. Heat in the dryer will melt the fibers in the MF.

How did you organize your supplies?

Yeah, I've had good luck with plain old tide. As for putting the vinegar in, we have bosch front loads with the locking door. They have the little door on top for putting detergent/bleach/softener in, and I just add in the vinegar instead of the bleach. Remember that fabric softener and dryer...

    The Right Tire Dressing?

I really like to use Meg's 40 for everything including my tire shine. If you just spray on one coat, you'll end up with a nice black tire with minimal shine, but if you come back and reapply every 5 minutes or so, you can really get a nice shine worked up with no slinging. It lasted on my...

How did you organize your supplies?

I generally separate by material meaning I'll wash foam buffing pads with foam applicators, and microfiber towels (polishing/all purpose) with the MF applicators as well. I also add in a bit of white vinegar to the load and select the "Power wash" with the "Rinse Plus" option on and wash them...
