    Liquid Souvern?

Like everyone said, it's very easy to buff off as long as you apply it very thin. I generally do a one side (or the roof, hood and trunk) and then start buffing off. Be aware that while it looks incredible and rain will literally bead into "water marbles" when it's fresh, it only lasts a...

    Stripping 845?

:iagree: Hey. I love WD40 as much as the next guy. While it is nothing but a mixture of various petroleum distillates and your car is designed to be resistant to these products, I still don't think it's a good idea to go soaking your paint with this stuff. Yeah, it was designed to prevent...

To clay or not to clay?

:iagree: If you're gonna spend a few hours washing, polishing and waxing your car, you might as well do the job right and take the extra 20 - 30 min it takes to clay.

what to use for dashboard and panels??

I use Woolite at a 16:1 dilution. Works just fine even on a moderately dirty interior and it's very inexpensive. Lexus also recommends Woolite for cleaning the leather. They suggest a 10:1 dilution, but I found that to be too soapy. Dampen an mf with a few sprays, wipe down an area, done. I...

I can recommend the Wolfgang Twins (TSR and FG). While they aren't the most aggressive polishes, they've taken care of everything I've run into so far. And that includes some pretty heavily swirled 90s GM cars. However, one of the main reasons I got them is because they were on BOGO. I do...

    wd40 for wax removal

Probably not a darn thing. Cars are made to resist petroleum products since, well, they run on it. The solvent portion will flash rather quickly leaving just the low wt oils so it might actually work. I wouldn't do it but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work.

    wd40 for wax removal

One more use - WD40 is some of the best starting fluid you'll ever find. So if your snowblower is balky, hit it with some WD40 down the spark plug hole. Guarantee if you got spark it'll start.

    best compounds & polishes?

You didn't tell us that up front. It sure helps when someone gives you all the info. Clairvoyance is not my strong suit. Most detailers offer a few levels of service - a basic wash and wax, a mid-level "all-in-one" correction and seal/wax, and higher end full custom polishes and seal/wax...

First post with a few ?s

I did my wife's 2011 Obsidian Black ES350 with the Wolfgan Twins (TSR and FG). It turned out like a freaking mirror. I chose those because is this was my first time polishing supposedly soft Lexus paint and they are know to be easy to work with and the TSR is a less aggressive "compound"...

    best compounds & polishes?

I take it you have not seen the Three Rules of Quality? Rule 1 - There are no shortcuts. Rule 2 - See Rule 1. Rule 3 - See Rule 2. If your car's defects are very light or you aren't fussy, you can try a good All In One product like Optimum Poli-Seal. I haven't used them but Poli-Seal and a...

Best way to clean and polish exhaust tips?

Generally by the color and surface texture. Chrome has a bluish tint and tends to be highly polished. SS is silver colored and is typically a brushed finish for exhaust tips. If it's post-90s OEM, it's probably SS. You could also do a magnet test. Chrome is typically over regular steel...

    wd40 for wax removal

True. Stoddard solvent is a solvent and probably would not be all that great for paint. However, WD40 also contains lubricating oils so unless you intend to leave your car soaking in it overnight I don't see that it will do any harm.

    wd40 for wax removal

WD40 is pretty cool stuff. It contains aliphatic petroleum solvents (Stoddard solvent) and light wt petroleum oils. Since your car is designed to use petroleum products there's probably nothing WD40 will harm, although it might stain cloth seats and carpeting. And other than crappy styrene, I...

Meguairs Gold Class gone after a month and a half

Any of the Collinite waxes. I'm using 845, but once that's gone I'm trying 915. Seems most prefer 845 because it's a liquid so it's easier to apply to a DA pad. True dat, but I still wanna see what 915 will do. Oh yeah, easily lasts me 3 months before I get the uncontrollable urge to lay on...

Best way to clean and polish exhaust tips?

If the tips are brushed stainless, you can use #0000 steel wool and any soap or car wash to clean. Follow up with a commercial polish like Simichrome. For chrome or polished SS, I'd just go with a commercial polish. A Brillo pad works great on the inside of both.

The Megs system runs 90 for thr 5.5" and 100 for the 6". It comes with a backing plate sapecifically designed for the pads. Make sure you use it. Here's a link: Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System, paint polishing system, car polish, car detailing system, compounding system, remove...

    megs da microfiber correction kit

Why would you say that? You get a backing plate, 4 buffing pads (2 each cutting and polishing), D300 compound and the D301 Finishing Wax for 90 - 100 bucks depending on the size pads. That seems very reasonable to me given the success people are having and the life they are getting out of the...

    Using ONR, what wash media?

I've used both a mf chennile mitt and mf towels. Didn't notice any diff. Use what you like. I do love the NR washes. I did my RAV4 last nite in 30 min. My wife did her ES350 the nite before in around 20. Wash a panel, dry with mf drying towel, repeat, done. Cuts out rinsing, uses less...

Are these rust spots? Need help

Yes, it is common. It's called DISO - Dealer Installed Swirl Option. Had it on my wife's brand new 2011 Lexus. Didn't let them touch it when we picked it up but then had it picked up for first service and they couldn't resist washing it even though I told them not to. I was pizzed.
