    Foam Gun ?

Someone said they use simple green diluted 30:1 in the foam gun. Is this safe? Is this the only wash you use or do you use something else in the bucket?

    New Windshield 'performance'

My wife bought a new car and before the left the lot, the salesman tried to remove a bug using cut-rite rubbing compound. It was done before I could stop him. I never got the scratches totally out. We ended up trading it off and one of the big reasons was because we couldn't stand it with...

Just got out of the ER

heat exhaustion I've heard that each time you actually have a case of heat exhaustion (and usually dehydration) it becomes easier to occur the next time, so after a few times, you are not able to work much in the heat. Be careful!

    New Windshield 'performance'

Swirls I refused to let the dealer clean my new car. It was raining the day I picked up the car, or they probably still would have. When my wife met me she had never heard of swirls. After I explained and showed them to her, she thought cars came from the factory that way because every car...

dehydration Like the other guys said, pedialyte is good stuff and a camelback is a good way to keep liquid with you while moving. I have used them when racing motorcycles. You shouldn't have to drink only pedialyte or other electrolyte drinks. It's also expensive if you are working for long...

    Guess who FINALLy ordered Souveran!?!?!?

What is the best way to remove the "dealer" emblem? This one is chrome plated plastic and attached with the typical double sided adhesive. Also, will this leave a "ghost" effect. I still haven't washed the commander yet, or waxed, etc.

Question for those who detail for $$$

Good idea, Reddwarf. A lot of people appreciate nice things and are in such clubs, but don't have the time or ability to perform detail work.

    Engine Maintenance

Good idea 03, I think you are doing the right thing if you want to keep the vehicle. I hate it that cars have become "disposable" in recent years. It goes against everything I believe in, but I am on that buy / trade downward spiral like those that I used to talk about.

    Engine Maintenance

Belcherm 58, I totally agree with you, but... Mobil 1 does not tell the whole truth. I'm trying to find out who does at this point. I should have been a lawyer and chemist and I guess I would already know this. They say their oil is "Fully Synthetic". By word definition, it is fully...

Amsoil 03, Its probably good for severe use vehicles, but may not pay off for ones that are not used beyond their limits. Also, when you sell or trade, no one cares and they think you are crazy.

Question for those who detail for $$$

The good thing about detailing is that you always have repeat business after it rains. I would seek out as many good customers as you can handle and focus on the repeat business. This will make scheduling your work much easier.

Question for those who detail for $$$

$$$ I do know some people who detail on the side. They can make a killing over the weekend if they stay at it. An ad in the local paper does well. Advertisements on the bulletin board at Wal-Mart also work and they're free. Going to upscale neighborhoods and distributing flyers has also...
