Spray On Sealants for keeping auto protected in Maine winters

This got me thinking. During the winter months where it's really only practical for me to go to a coin-op bay, what if washed and rinsed the vehicle, then applied Sonax BSD as a drying aid and then dried with some MF clothes? Or maybe even a 50/50 mix of Wolfgang Uber / Sonax BSD as a drying...

    Spray and rinse sealants.

Tony, any thoughts on how these products might compare to using Sonax BSD as a drying aid? I was having a couple of thoughts. For the spray and rinse products - I would wash, rinse, spray on the product (such as Wet Coat), wipe it around a bit with a damp MF, then rinse, then dry. First...

    Wash/Decon/Polish steps/products?

More is definitely better. While we used four 5.5" pads we also used three 3" pads.

Spray On Sealants for keeping auto protected in Maine winters

Agreed - it is kind of losing battle. Even a rinseless would be difficult. Thinking one of the spray on sealants like Tony is using in Sweden may help in the battle. I'll use the other products (Like a concentrate mixed for rinseless, waterless, or QD) as long as I can.

    Quick Wash/Detail Between Regular Detailing

I think I want to try one of the concentrates that I can mix as either a waterless, a rinseless, or a QD. I have been using Maguiar's UQD to clean any light dust between major details and it does enhance the shine/gloss as well as renewing water beading. Sounds like one of the concentrates...

Spray On Sealants for keeping auto protected in Maine winters

Thanks Tony. I'll definitely start the season with a well prepped and sealed auto. Plan is to wash -> chemical decon -> rinse/dry -> clay bar -> polish (Menzerna 3500) -> wipe down -> sealant (Menzerna Powerlock). As long as I can I'll be washing regularly and using waterless wash product...

    Wash/Decon/Polish steps/products?

My son and I started his car with the thought we would use one pad, and cleaning in on the fly as Mike teaches, however, I believe we were using to much product and saturated the pad. So we stopped after doing the hood and front fenders, and I ordered more pads and some pad conditioner...

Ultimate compound doing nothing for me

Excellent! I had to tell my son the same - slow down, put a little pressure on the pad, and let the product work. I also marked the pad so he can see when the pad stops rotating.

Spray On Sealants for keeping auto protected in Maine winters

Oops, yea that would be the plan. Forgot to include the rinse. So yea, wash - rinse - spray sealant - rinse - dry. I should be able to do that in a bay during the winters in Maine. Would love to hear feedback from others that have used one of these spray sealants you apply to a wet auto.

Spray On Sealants for keeping auto protected in Maine winters

I have another thread where I am looking for recommendations for a product between biannual details. Something like a QD or waterless after going to a coin-op touchless. While looking at the different products for that purpose I noticed that they have some spray on sealants that you can spray...

    Quick Wash/Detail Between Regular Detailing

Seems to be some good info here regarding this topic, particularly from Nick. How to determine if u need wash or quick detail? From that thread gather that I do NOT want a Spray Wax as I would not categorize that surface as "squeaky clean and free of any dust, dirt, or contaminants" after a...

    Quick Wash/Detail Between Regular Detailing

Is the recommendation to do a rinseless wash over vice the touchless coin-op, or do the coin-op then use the rinseless wash as the detailer? As I said above, I do understand time passes and products/methodologies change. Just wanting to understand what benefits a rinseless provides over a...

    Quick Wash/Detail Between Regular Detailing

What do recommend between regular details for the exterior? I do live in Maine so I understand the answer may be different between winter and the rest of the year. I have a coin-operated touchless car wash less than a mile from my house. I like to go there and get the undercarriage sprayed...

    Meguiars Hyper Dressing

Gonna try Sonus tomorrow. Car only has 1500 miles on it so I’m gonna mist with Superclean at 5:1 then rinse and blow dry. Then apply 2 coats of Sonus (15 min separation). Hopefully I remember to take some pics. I chose the Sonus after researching as I want something that lasts a while, is...

    Exterior Plastics Detailer/Protection

Sounds like WETS or McKee's 37 Trim Restorer are the recommendations. Just curious how those compare to two other products I have seen recommendations for. How would these compare to Sonus Trim and Motor Kote Sonus Trim & Motor Kote, acrylic protectant, black plastic protectant, engine...

    Menzerna Powerlock Prep

I think you are correct with both. I likely was using way too much product and there was an awful lot of oxidized paint to get through. I’m going to try to use a pad conditioner to prep the pad in the future, and use less product. Hoping with the pad conditioner the polish won't fill the pad...

    Exterior Plastics Detailer/Protection

I have a new vehicle and am looking for a recommendation for a exterior plastics detailer/protection. I see a lot of products reviewed for renewing exterior plastics - but I'm looking for a product to detail and protect plastics on a new vehicle.

    Menzerna Powerlock Prep

Polished and sealed my boy front end (hood and fenders) yesterday. Note, his paint does have many defects that I knew we wouldn't be able to take - but he wanted to get rid of the fine scratches. This was a 20" x 20" test we did first to (a) practice and (b) test/prove out method. We started...

    Menzerna Powerlock Prep

Yup - been there numerous times. Guess that's the way it goes. Research a product - buy it - then the next best thing comes around. Oh well. Yea, I have all the products for washing and waxing (or sealing in this case) but have never done any polishing (at least by machine) so I trying to...
