Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

Can you alert us as to when/how we can try this new product ? I, for one, would be more than happy to acquire a sample to test.

I'm guessing that if you wiped/cleaned your headlights with alcohol every week......it DEFINITELY WOULD remove ANY type of sealant/finish that was applied. Just use a mild soap and water to clean the lights. (Just my two cents)

Where/how can I get MY hands on some of this?

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

I use turtle wax compound myself......in place of the 3000 grit final sanding...just prior to wiping with MS and then spar application.

I don't know about the Olympic spar finish, been using the Minwax for over 3 years now and am used to how to apply it and its drying characteristics. I don't see a reason to change. My lights sparkle and look fantastic with it. With regards to the 50/50 mix......I have started using more of a...

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

I have experimented on my own car headlights more than a few times with a number of coatings. Generally speaking, I find it very quick and easy to simply resand with 800, 1500 and 3000(or compound) and then follow the cleaning/recoating procedure. I've had zero problems with that.....I do wet...

It should have been dry and hard long before 2 days. Something is not right. The lights I do are dry to the touch in about 1/2 hour. What type of container are you using to mix your MS/Spar in? Maybe the MS is melting some of your container and its mixing with your coating thus changing the...

You may have a problem simply with the inside of the lens. If the lens is not sealed properly from the factory dirt and moisture can get in (also if the bulbs seal is no good), or if there are cracks somewhere.....you can get cloudiness/fog on the inside. There is no way to fix that...unless you...

I decided to sand the entire lens and restore the whole thing. I don't think its possible to do a partial job and have it look right or last long.

I've tried to do a partial restore one time also and found the exact same thing. A distinct line between the two coatings which was very noticable to me. I did what you did, re-stripped it all the way down and coated the whole thing. As for the coatings lifetimes....I suppose that it really...

I'm not sure but, I think what ray meant to say was NOT to use IPA at all. If alcohol attracts water like a magnet and water is your enemy....it wouldn't make sense to use it in my book.

Re: How to prevent runs This is so much easier in person....lol Ok, a blue scott's towel measures approx.....10 1/2" X 11". Fold the towel in half on the 11" side, giving you a towel that measures 10 1/2" X 5 1/2". I just do this by looking....but to be precise....measure 2 1/2"..down the 10...

Re: How to prevent runs David, If you saturated the scott towel, thats your mistake. I take a scott blue towel....fold it in half....then cut a strip 2 1/2" wide. Fold that in half and then just dip it in the spar mixture (I use 70/30 unless its quite windy) for a second. Itry to get an...

I am also curious about the "shelf life" of the above named product and their "Infinity 4.1" product as well. Does anyone know?

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

Has anyone done a longevity test for Delta Kits "Coat2Protect" coating? I'm wondering how long that lasts. They sell 8oz for $81.00. I'm not sure how many vehicles that amount would do.....and the website doesn't say.

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

Ray6, You mention that in Florida a person would probably offer a "1 year warranty". Will your product last longer than 1 year on Florida vehicles? If so, what will the cost be and how would I acquire the product from you to try it out. (I remember you saying a few weeks back that your website...
